HF WHOOPI

HF Whoopi kept her perfect record intact at 3 starts and 3 wins with a 3/4-length victory in the $200,400 Gordon Mobley
Futurity for Indiana-sired 2 year olds at Horseshoe Indianapolis on July 23.
Trained by Jessica Vazquez for owner Campos Family Ventures LLC of Connersville, Indiana, HF Whoopi covered 300 yards in :15.414. Edgar Diaz rode the brown daughter of the Brimmerton stallion Brimmstone.
HF Whoopi was sent
to post at odds of 7-1 and returned a $16.40 win mutuel.
HF Whoopi was winning for the third time in as many races, and the $110,220 winner’s share of the purse from her first career stakes victory increased her bankroll to $127,820.
The filly was bred in Indiana by Randy Haffner, and she is out of Firebawl, a winning daughter of the
Shazoom stallion Jess Zoomin. She traces back to her fourth dam, Beduinos Rusty,
a Chicks Beduino mare who won the 1995 Sam Houston Futurity-G1.
David Campos and his daughter Gladys purchased HF Whoopi privately before the filly’s racing career began.
The fourth-fastest qualifier, HF Whoopi was coming off of a 1/2-length victory in one of six Gordon Mobley Futurity qualifiers on July 2.
Royal Sin (My Royal Wagon-Euro Blazin), the fastest qualifier from the trials and the even-money favorite in the full field of 10, ran second and banked the $40,080 runner-up share of the purse for his owner Brian L. Gunder. Jockey Juan Marquez rode the homebred bay gelding for conditioner Randy Smith.
Sixth-fastest qualifier Streakindownthebeach
(Habits Secret-Beach Runner) finished third, 1-length behind HF Whoopi, while earning the $20,040 third-place share of the purse for his owner Buddy Presley, who purchased the gelding for $26,750 at last year’s Quarter Horse Racing Association
