Gabriel Cué Sacre Classic
LA TAMAZULA

The third edition of this classic in honor of
the retired horseman Gabriel Cué Sacre was contested on April 24 among six three-year-old and older horses that participated in claiming races for $80,000 pesos between March 31, 2021, and 2022. The distance was 350 yards and the purse assigned to the race was $264,000 pesos ($12,901 U.S. approx.).
It was SE Millennium Alert who captured the attention of the betting public, being the most experienced and with the best statistics.
Being a small group, the race flowed cleanly throughout. At the start, La Victoria Jess (#1) came out with power and speed, making her run on the inner rail. However on the right side of the track, SE Millennium Alert (#6) and La Tamazula (#5) both left determined to fight and staged a tight duel that was defined at the finish by thousandths of a second in favor of the filly La Tamazula, who withstood the siege of her rival and responded to the demands of her rider Arturo Sánchez.
It was a photo finish, where La Tamazula showed she was ahead by a nose, leaving Mago Corona in third place by 2 1/2-lengths. Her winning time was :17.70.

14 outings, of which she has
also obtained three second
places. She broke her maiden on Feb. 13 over 250 yards, with jockey Arturo Sánchez as helmsman, who has since remained her starting rider.
The three-year-old filly was bred in the State of Sinaloa, Mexico, by Mr. Guillermo Elizondo Collard at his Rancho Natoches. The filly is owned by Rancho Las Bugambilias and is trained by Rubén Navarro.
For this win, she obtained the $132,000 pesos ($6,451 U.S. approx.) winners’ share of the purse to boost her total earnings that already exceed $227,000 pesos.
The award ceremony was led by Adriana Gómez Barnola, with the presence of trainer Rubén Navarro, owner Héctor Calderón Domínguez, as well as jockey Arturo Sánchez, each accompanied by family and friends.
As already mentioned, in second place was SE Millennium Alert (Millennium Cartel-Travel
Alert, Separatist) ridden by Alejandro Gómez Díaz. He
is the property of the Cuadra Santa Elena, where he is trained by Joaquín Ramón Peláez Cortés. He was bred by
Alfredo Castro Rea.
The five-year-old filly Mago Corona
(Corona On The Rocks-ETA, Saldi TB) took third place under Yair Daniel Báez for Granja La Esperanza. She was bred by Margarito Rojas and his trainer is Gerardo Rafael Galán Pérez.
La Victoria Jess (He Be Jess Special-Nothin Like Lynn), BR Guerrero Azteca (Southern Corona-Howbad Do Youwantit) and BR Corona Secreta (Southern Corona-Down To Separating) completed the order of finish.
