Live Moonshine’s winning connections include breeders/owners Dan & Kaye Jones, trainer Matt Whitekiller and jockey Cody Smith
he and his connections had to sweat out a long photo finish.
“It seemed like 20 minutes,” said Kaye. “It even had Cody doubting himself, it was so long. But, it worked in our favor.”
Live Moonshine was awarded the $21,936 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 winner’s share and took his total freshman year earnings to $118,754. His race record now stands at 6(2)-0-0 from 10 starts. Beside his two stakes victories, he was also
fourth in the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 and fifth in the Pot O’ Gold Futurity-G1.
Live Moonshine is a Paint with color, but they gelded him because, “He was a little stub- born,” said Kaye. Plus, CRM Livewire is only nine years old, with plenty of his stud career ahead of him.
“We’re all about the horses—they are our priorities,” said Kaye. “We try to be good man- agers of our horses.”
A good example is that the Quarter Horse Scarlett The Harlot, Live Moonshine’s second dam, is “still in our pasture” at age 23. Dan purchased her and bred her to Awesome Chrome to get PRP Sedona Sunset, Live Moonshine’s dam and a double-registered Quarter Horse and Paint. PRP Sedona Sunset only started six times, with one second and one third. She has no Quarter Horse foals and three Paint starters. Live Moonshine is her first win- ner and her first by CRM Livewire.
“They’re just getting better and better,” said Kaye. “We’ve been blessed.”
Ricky Ramirez piloted Baileys And Rum APHA (Dominyun QH-Baileys N Sunsets) to a strong second place finish for trainer Blane Wood and owner Dunn Ranch. The filly won the Tulsa Fair Stakes at Fair Meadows and was fourth in the Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Remington Park.
Cap Attack APHA (Capo De Capi QH-Takin On Judy) finished third for owner Planefun LLC, trainer Dee Keener, and jockey Rolando Raudales. During the Remington Park meeting, Cap Attack finished second in the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1.
Admiral Tom ApHC (Red Storm Cat QH-Eyesa Knockout), the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown High Point Champion, was fourth, followed by Lota White Sox ApHC (Lota PYC QH-Dashing Susie), Wired For Sound APHA (CRM Livewire-Ze Southern Girl), Gogo Maserati APHA (Second Painted Sign QH-Elaina
Go Go), Hotwired Daddy APHA (CRM Livewire-Money Makin Mama), and
Tres Miracles APHA (View Me Flying QH-Together Again). RP Livewire Papasbaby APHA was scratched.
