At the 2017 auction, LA Rapid King Judea (Lot 284) reached $520,000 pesos ($29,128 US approx.) in the ring and was the seventh highest seller after being repurchased by his breeder
to integrate him to Cuadra Los Gavilanes. LA Rapid King Judea debuted on March 18 in a maiden, which he won comfortably in :11.95 (SI 98, his highest so far). His next run was
in the qualifying trials of the Mexico Futurity, winning in his group with :13.30 and enough enter the consolation in which he closed third but was later disqualified. His time in trials to the Garañones Futurity was not very rewarding. But he added his third victory in the trials to the Selecta Auction where he went into the finals with a :17.406, the sixth best qualifying time. To date, he has won four of his seven performances.
LA Rapid King Judea is by Texas Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Colt Rapid Fire Jess (Feature Mr Jess-Dollish, Pritzi Dash) who has a 103 speed index, has placed in several stakes and is the winner of four races and $34,014. He was
also third in the Retama Park Derby-G2 and a finalist Manor Downs Derby-G2. In four crops, Rapid Fire Jess has sired 13 offspring of running age, 10 runners, 4 winners of 5 races with earnings of more than $170,000, including LA Rapid King Judea as the winner of this futurity.
Queen Judea, the dam of LA Rapid King Judea, is by Strawfly Special. She placed at two and three years of age, with earnings of $3,500. She produced Superior Race Horse Touch Of Paso, earner of $92,786 and winner of five races, including the Corona Kool Handicap, and was 2nd in the Ladies Handicap-G3, Los Alamitos Derby Challenge, and Cypress Handicap.
The total purse raised for this futurity
was 8,397,700 pesos (approx. US $442,061)
of which 75% was assigned, that is to say 6,319,200 pesos (approx. US $332,647), to reward the owners of the finalists. The amount that was paid to the account of LA Rapid King Judea was 2,654,064 pesos (approx. $139,712 US).
Second place went to the gelding AS Macho (California Cartel-Check This Star Out) under the guidance of his regular rider José Ángel Ambrosio Medina. He was bred by Arturo A. Siller Berain and is the property of Cuadra Falcón. Pedro Ríos Torres is the trainer. AS Macho maintains a record of 5-2-0 in seven starts, including the Garañones Futurity and second in the Mexico Futurity, which positions him as the highest earner in the current season at the Hipodromo de las Américas with more than 3.3 million pesos.
Dancer Chimpa (Ze Dancer-Macumba Royal Hemp) finished in third under the
command of José Manuel Cisneros. Bred by Felix Bañuelos, Dancer Chimpa is owned by Cuadra Díaz de León and trained by Epifanio Carrasco Sandoval. The colt’s career record is now 5-1-1 in seven starts with earnings of more than 1.2 million pesos.
After the two disqualifications, the remaining order of arrival was: Espejo Artillera (Tabasco Special Dash–Jess Blushing, breeding of Javier Rosique and owned by Rancho Santa Anita), BR Bambino (Southern Corona–Regal Fortune, breeding of Maximiliano Pérez C
and owned by Cuadra Bronco Rider), Solo Cartel (Senior Solo–Carly Cartel, breeding
of Cuadra La Presita and owned by Cuadra Ezpuela de Oro), Misterio del Carmen (Mr Queens Mystery–Corona del Carmen, breeding of Jesús Sánchez Isidoro and owned by Cuadra El Capricho de Las Águilas), and Bye Bye Mom (Fearless Fritz–Warm Secret, breeding
of Rachuán Suárez and owned by Cuadra El Capricho de Las Águilas).

La etapa de calificación de este tradicional futurity se realizó el 1 y 2 de septiembre. Fueron 18 carreras, de las que se obtuvieron los 10 finalistas y otros tantos con derecho a disputar la carrera por el premio de consolación, de un total de 150 dos añeros, 21 menos que en 2017. Todos ellos fueron presentados en la Subasta Selecta de Añales del 2017 y sus dueños pagaron las cuotas de participación respectivas, con lo que se integró una bolsa total de $8’397,700 pesos ($442,061 US aproximadamente), de los cuales $6’319,200 pesos ($332,647 US aproximadamente) fueron para premiar a los propietarios de los finalistas.
