Striving for Excellence
by Diane Rice
Great things are never built over- night. Yet with persistence, perspec- tive, a well-thought-out plan and a large
dose of grit, dedication and determina- tion, small things can become hugely successful.
This type of built-from-nothing, homegrown success appears to be coming to fruition for Matt and Bendi Dunn of Bismarck, Missouri. After about 15 years in the barrel- and horse-racing business, they’re establishing Dunn Ranch at the former Shebester Stallion Station just off I-35’s exit 64 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
Their focus is on providing top-qual- ity service to clients, from stud service and breeding management to foaling and mare care; from sales prep to halter breaking to boarding. And, they breed and race their own stock as well.
“We’ve already got a great stallion roster — it’s even better than we’d expected. I’m heavily involved and highly motivated. I’m high strung, to be honest with you,” Matt says, only half joking. “If it’s not perfect, it’s not good enough. That’s the way I’ve grown my [wood- working] business and that’s the way I
do the horse business. I want the best for everybody. I don’t want to disappoint any client.”
