VOLCOMS HEART

With the scratching of The Ocean Runaway from this contest, there were only six three-years and older females that disputed the purse of 219,000 pesos ($14,600 US) at a running distance of 350 yards on April 12 at the Hipodromo de las Americas in the Mexican capital.
Among them included One Famous Episode (#3) and Volcoms Heart (#6), two rivals in their third encounter of the current season. The two previous encounters resulted in a classic win and a third for each of them. Because of these encounters, there was much anticipation in this pair of runners, who were presented to the public in great physical and mental shape. However, bets for first place favored Volcoms Heart.
At the start, Juno Im Gona Fly (#5) moved inward and shut out Keepnit Big Time (#4), while One Famous Episode, well supported by Moises Molina, made a fast break in a straight line to lead the small group; which
he achieved until Volcoms Heart responded with courage and strength to the energetic command of Eddi Cuellar, taking the lead in the final stretch and crossing the finish line by 1 1/4-length ahead and stopping the clock at 17.12 seconds for a SI 99.
This complete demonstration of superior- ity and consistency from the red bay filly, a daughter of Volcom out of Lethal Heart (by Check Him Out), adds to her latest victory obtained in the AQHA Distaff Challenge of Mexico and confirms to the appointment of American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly
of 2014, which she received in late February by the Mexican Association of Breeders and Horsemen of Quarter Horses, A.C., the same season in which the AQHA also distinguished her with the award for Regional High Point Mexico 3-Year-Old Filly.
Volcoms Heart is owned by Jose Manuel Vasco, who runs her under his Cuadra (racing team) Estanzuela. Her next engagement is expected in the Bank of America Challenge Championship in Mexico, scheduled for late July at a distance of 440 yards, which she will run for the first time. She was bred in the United States by P.K. Thomas. This time,
she was saddled by trainer Carlos Villanueva Campos.
Her record is 7-5-2 in 15 starts, with four classic wins and earnings of 1,040,551 pesos (US $75,133, according to figures reported by the AQHA).

Juno Im Gona Fly (Fly Jess Fly – Bound For Winfield), A Real Wonder Woman (A Regal Choice – Brays Real Rocket) & Sixtimes Royal (Walk Thru Fire – Royal Burning Breeze) finished off the order at the finish line.

Con el retiro de Ocean Runaway de esta contienda, fueron solo seis hembras de tres años y mayores las que se disputaron un premio de 219,000 pesos ($14,600 US) en distancia de 350 yardas, el 12 de abril en el Hipódromo de Las Américas de la capital mexicana.
Entre ellas figuraban One Famous Episode (3) y Volcoms Heart (5), dos rivales en su tercer encuentro en la actual temporada; en los dos anteriores obtuvieron resultado de un clásico ganado y un tercer lugar para cada una. Por ello, se esperaba con mucho entusiasmo la actu- ación de esta pareja de corredoras, que fueron presentadas al público en estupenda forma física y anímica. Sin embargo, las apuestas a primer lugar favorecieron a Volcoms Heart.
En la partida, Juno Im Gona Fly (5) lo
hace hacia adentro y le cierra el paso a Keepnit Big Time (4), mientras One Famous Episode emprende una veloz escapada en línea recta para encabezar el pequeño grupo, bien apoyada por Moisés Molina, lo cual logra hasta que Volcoms Heart responde con coraje y fuerza al mando enérgico de Eddi Cuéllar, para encabezar las acciones en el tramo final y cruzar la meta por 1 1⁄4 de largo de diferencia, parando el cronómetro en 17.12 segundos para un SI de 99.
Una demostración de superioridad y consis- tencia de la potranca colorada hija de Volcoms Heart en Lethal Heart (por Check Him Out), que se suma a su triunfo obtenido en el AQHA Distaff Challenge de México y confirma la designación de Potranca Campeona Americana de Tres Años en el 2014, que recibió a finales
