This classic was previously named the AQHA Claiming Challenge. The name changes, but maintains the status of being “for three- years and older individual Quarter Horses nominated to the AQHA The Challenge Program who participated in claimings for 62,500 pesos or $5,000 US dollars since March 31, 2014 to March 31, 2015...”
The race was held on May 3 with 8 partici- pants who met this condition and whose own- ers paid $500 per nomination and registration. The distance was 350 yards and the purse was 297,553 pesos (US $19,837).
The statistics were similar for all of
the participants, and the odds favored any individual. The least reported starts came from Perrys Perks with 10, which includes his triumph in the Alfonso Patiño Martinez Aceves Classic, as well as Smokies Valentine and Aldegundo Cia with 13 each. Both had won their previous bout.
However, it was the grey Aldegundo Cia who ended up winning with clarity under the guidance of Arturo Sanchez, reaching the goal by 1 1/4-lengths of a difference in front of Temeku Hawk. It was a clean race where the winner was unopposed, achieving a time of 17.47 seconds for a SI 89.
Aldegundo Cia is a four-year-old Mexican colt, bred and owned by Carlos Roel, who runs him on behalf of his own Rancho La Compañía located in Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico. The colt is a son of the stallion He Be Jess Special and is out of Moonlight Kisses (by A Royal Jet).
His record is 6-4-0 in 14 performances, this being his first classic victory, which totaled 178,531 pesos (US $11,902 approxi- mately) towards his total earnings.
Temeku Hawk (Hawkish - Dash To The End) finished second with the support of Alejandro Gomez for Cuadra (racing team) San Antonio AJH and trainer Andres Camilo Miranda.
Third place went to the filly Smokies Valentine (Okey Dokey Dale - Smokin Slipper) of Cuadra Chiconcua. She was saddled by Ismael Ayala and was directed at the track by Juan Carlos Alvarado.

Lion – Prima First), Perrys Perks (Mr Jess Perry- Rapid Perks), Estamos Cia (Aguerrido Cash – Lady Anna Girl), Hes A Royal Metallic (Metallic Lion – Royal Native Noblesse) & Stoli Injun (Stoli – Powerful Injun).

Las estadísticas eran muy parecidas para todos, por lo que el resultado podía favorecer a cualquiera. Los que menos partidas reportan son Perrys Perks con 10, donde se incluye su triunfo en el Clásico Alfonso Patiño Martínez Aceves; Smokies Valentine, y Aldegundo Cia., con 13 cada uno, ambos venían de ganar su compromiso anterior.
Sin embargo, fue el tordillo Aldegundo Cia., el que terminó imponiéndose con clari- dad en la meta por 1 largo y 1⁄4 de diferencia sobre Temeku Hawk, bajo la guía de Arturo Sánchez. Fue una carrera limpia donde el
ganador no tuvo oposición, logrando un tiempo de 17.47 segundos para un SI de 89.
Aldegundo Cía., es un potro mexicano de 4 años, crianza y propiedad de Carlos Roel, quien lo corre a nombre de su Rancho La Compañía, ubicado en Valle
de Bravo, Estado de México; es hijo del semental He Be Jess Special en Moonlight Kisses (por A Royal Jet).
Su récord queda en 6 – 4 – 0 en 14 actua- ciones, siendo esta su primera victoria clásica, por la que sumó 178,531 pesos ($11,902 US, aproximadamente) a su cuenta de ganancias.
Temeku Hawk (Hawkish – Dash To The End), culminó en segundo lugar con el apoyo de Alejandro Gómez, para la Cuadra San Antonio AJH y el entrenador Andrés Camilo Miranda.
El tercer lugar fue para la potranca Smokies Valentine (Okey Dokey Dale – Smokin Slipper), de la Cuadra Chiconcua; la ensilló Ismael Ayala y fue dirigida en la pista por Juan Carlos Alvarado.
