Over in 2014 is Take A Look, winner of the California Breeders Freshman Fillies Stakes. Take A Look is sired by Separatist.
Look Her Over not only produced three stakes winners in 2014, she was the dam
of two stakes placed runners. They include Look Of A Dasher, second in the California Breeders’ 550 Sophomore Stakes and a finalist in the Golden State Derby-G1. The other stakes placed runner is Dashing Over, who was third in the California Breeders’ Freshman Fillies Stakes. Both of these runners are sired by TR Dasher. When we look at this young mare’s record through 2014, she had nine foals old enough to run and seven of them earned an ROM.
Here is what I think is an interesting observation about the stallions Walk Thru Fire and TR Dasher as mates for Look Her Over. We found that two of Look Her Over’s stakes winners were sired by Walk Thru Fire, and her two stakes placed foals were sired by TR Dasher. When
we look at the pedigree of Walk Thru Fire and TR Dasher, we see that they are 3/4-brothers sired by First Down Dash and out of daughters of *Beduino.
Then we see that Check Her Twice, the dam of Look Her Over’s broodmare sire Check Him Out, is sired by First Down Dash and out of a daughter
of *Beduino. This is a collateral line breeding situation: Collateral Relatives being full brothers and sisters or 3/4-brothers and sisters that appear together in the pedigree. Check Her Twice, Walk Thru Fire and TR Dasher are 3/4-sister and brothers.
We have seen other collateral line breeding situations with the horses we
have talked about that carry the blood of Correction and her full brother Domino. When we look at the pedigree of First Down Dash, we see that both Jet Deck and Top Moon are found in his dam’s pedigree. Jet Deck and Top Moon are collateral relatives. They are at least 7/8-brothers.
With the 2014 Broodmare Of The Year title under her belt, we see that Look Her Over already has progeny earnings of over $50,000 in 2015 with her daughter Take A Look winning the La Pacifica Handicap and running second in the La Primera Del Ano Derby-G3. She also has five 2013 Walk Thru Fire foals just starting their race career. This certainly makes Look Her Over a great member of the Allred breeding program as a representative of an important mare line formed when Wayne Charlton bred Rocket Bar to Tinky Ann.
Check Him Out is the sire of 2014 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year Look Her Over.
Collateral line breeding, full or 3/4-brothers
and sisters appearing together in a pedigree, is seen in 2014 Speedhorse Broodmare of the Year Look Her Over’s pedigree and in her stakes winning foals’ pedigrees . . .
Check Her Twice (shown left), the dam of Check Him Out (the sire of Look Her Over), is out of a daughter of *Beduino.
Walk Thru Fire and TR Dasher, the sires of many of Look Her Over’s stakes runners, are 3/4-brothers by First Down Dash and out of daughters of *Beduino.
winning son of Storm Cat. (The stallion we referred to earlier whose third dam was Bolero Rose by Bolero.) Hennessy was a major stakes winner at two, the only year he ran. He won the Hopeful Stakes-G1 and was second in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile-G1.
The dam of Check Him Out is Check Her Twice, a grade one stakes winner in races like the Golden State Futurity-G1. She is sired by First Down Dash and is out of the great Vessels Stallion Farm mare Fishers Favorite by *Beduino. Through Fishers Favorite and her dam Ought To Go, we find the female family of horses
like World Champion Special Leader, Champion Your First Moon, Champion Old Habits, Champion Hardly Hateful, and Champion Solvency in the female line. Your First Moon is the dam of Moonist, the 2014 AQHA Racing Champion Three- Year-Old Gelding. She is also the dam of the first-year sire Stray Cat by Storm Cat.
While Look Her Over was racing in 2008, she was bred by embryo transfer
to Walk Thru Fire to produce Once Over
in 2009. This gelding became Look Her Over’s first stakes winner, winning three stakes races in 2014 including the Spencer Childers California Breeder’s Championship- RG1. Once Over was the first of three 2014 stakes winners for Look Her Over.
The next 2014 stakes winner for Look Her Over is He Looks Hot. This Walk Thru Fire gelding is the winner of the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1. The third stakes winner for Look Her
                    Walk Thru Fire
