  HOLLYWOOD HENRY
Making the second start of his 7-year-old campaign, Bennie A. Vanecek’s Hollywood Henry was a prompt 17-10 favorite in the March 19, $100,000 Mt. Cristo Rey Handicap (R) for New Mexico-bred Thoroughbreds.
Hollywood Henry covered 5 1/2 furlongs
in 1:03.16, and his margin of victory was 1 3/4 lengths from 12-1 longshot On A Warpath. Alfredo Juarez Jr. rode the dark bay or brown Roll Hennessy Roll gelding for trainer Fred Danley.
Hollywood Henry was bred by Fred Alexander, and he was purchased as a yearling by the late Henry Dominguez for $17,500 at the 2016 New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding is one of 110 winners from 156 starters sired by Roll Hennessy Roll, a graded stakes winning 22-year-old son of the Storm Cat stallion Hennessy.
Racing in five states from 2002-04, including New Mexico, Roll Hennessy Roll earned $173,869 from 12 starts, and his four wins included a four-length victory in the 2002 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (G3) at Hollywood Park. The stallion has sired 12 official black- type stakes winners and the earners of more than $7.9 million from 15 crops, including multiple stakes winners Hennessy Express, Twixy Roll, and Hennesey Smash.

winners from four starters, including Fill The Bill, a stakes-placed half -sister to Hollywood Henry who ran third in the 2020 Mountain Top Thoroughbred Futurity (R) at Ruidoso Downs. The gelding’s second dam, the Kentucky-bred Phone Trick mare After The Beep, won two stakes in New Mexico in 2002, including the El Paso Times Handicap at Sunland Park.
Hollywood Henry’s third dam, the unplaced Sadler’s Wells mare Reluctant Diva (GB), produced Minnie McGinn, a half-sister to After The Beep who ran third in a stakes in Norway in 2012. The gelding traces back to his fourth dam, Miss Demure (IRE), a daughter of the Blushing Groom (FR) stallion Shy Groom and a Group 2 winner in England in 1988. A 1986 foal, Miss Demure foaled Royal Shyness (GB), a half-sister to Reluctant Diva who won the 1999 Great Lady M. Handicap at Hollywood Park.
The $60,000 winner’s share of the Mt. Cristo Rey Handicap purse pushed Hollywood Henry’s earnings to $378,915. The gelding
has won 10 of 30 starts, including seven of 12 at the 5 1/2-furlong distance and four of 11
at Sunland Park, and his three career stakes victories include the 2019 Mt. Cristo Rey Handicap and last year’s Sierra Blanca Stakes (R) at Ruidoso Downs.
