John Bachelor, SPEEDHORSE with Southern Electric’s winning trainer Matt Whitekiller and jockey Andrew Samaniego, for owners Dan & Kaye Jones.
Ze Southern Girl has had a few issues— she likes to dig and she has had ulcers and colic—and Kaye said she almost sold both the mare and Southern Electric before he raced. Fortunately, she kept both of them. Ze Southern Girl has produced one other Paint starter and winner and one Quarter Horse runner who placed, but died of colic early in his racing career. Dan and Kaye are breeding her back to CRM Livewire for a 2021 foal.
DTL Chasin Tale APHA (Wagon Tales QH-Shez Showin Off), owned by the Lesters’ DTL Teel Partnership, finished second. Cody Smith rode the gelding for Whitekiller. DTL Chasin Tale’s victories included the 2019 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Remington Park.
Twisted Fashion APHA (CRM Livewire- Ima Fashionista QH) finished third for breeders Lake and Ledona Newcomb and co-owner Leslie Ann Rothbell. Justine Klaiber rode the filly for trainer Eddie D. Willis. Twisted Fashion won once, finished second three times, and ran third once in seven previous starts.
Completing the field were PHQ Apollitical Jess APHA (Apollitical Jess QH-PHQ Princes Stef), Wired Special APHA (CRM Livewire-Glitzee QH), Bell N Wire APHA (CRM Livewire-Junglebell) and JM Country Quick Dash APHA (Country Quick Dash-Royal Grip).
