HORSE SALES RECAP
The New Mexico-Bred Sale saw substantial gains in all categories, while the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale average was up 14 percent in total sales.

First Requirement, a Quarter Horse yearling daughter of Champion First Moonflash, sold for $84,000 to top the Aug. 17-18 New Mexico-Bred Sale at the Ruidoso Downs Horse Sale Pavilion.
Consigned by W.L. and Dee Mooring’s Double LL Farms of Bosque, New Mexico, agent, First Requirement (Hip No. 253) was purchased by Javier Rodriguez. The brown filly is out of Required Fire, an 8-year-old stakes- winning daughter of Walk Thru Fire, and she is a half-sister to Jess Fire Chick, the winner of this year’s Zia (RG1) and Mountain Top (RG3) futurities at Ruidoso Downs.
Big Big Love (Hip No. 190), a bay son of Big Daddy Cartel consigned by Wood Ranch & Racing, was the second-highest seller.
Big Big Love was purchased for $75,000 by Tommy Dinwiddie, and she is the first foal produced by Desperate Love, an unraced 4-year-old daughter of Walk Thru Fire and
a half-sister to stakes winner Tessta Rossa and multiple graded futurity finalists The Revenant and Remember To Dash.
Don Cavenaugh paid $72,000 for Dark Moon (Hip No. 268), a daughter of First Moonflash and the winning 6-year-old Ivory James mare Special Dark Ivory, consigned by Double LL Farms.
