NMHBA Stakes-RG2
A PASSION FOR FLASHN
by Danny Camp
APassion For Flashn has a passion for win- ning. The three-year-old colt has won five out of 12 starts in his career. His latest victory was the NMHBA Stakes-RG2 at Sunland Park on Feb. 18.
The brown colt stepped away from the 10-post and had his sights on the biggest slice of the $85,000 purse.
Jockey Jose Enriquez knew he had the race won
if he could just run straight. They did and ran a perfect race while coming down the outside of the track.
The team had the lead
at first call and finished the 400-yard dash 1-length in front of the competition, stopping the clock at :19.990.
A Passion For Flashn brought home the $51,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner RC Racing, LLC
˜
and trainer Martin Orona Sr. The colt now has a total bankroll of $274,596.
A Passion For Flashn was bred in New Mexico by JMH Racing, LLC out of 2-time winner Subtly Sixey. A Passion For Flashn, who is her first starter from two foals, also won last year’s New Mexico Classic Futurity-RG2.
“This is a very calm horse for being a stud. He’s easy to gallop and is
calm and quiet in the barn area,” said the trainer. “When he walks in the gates, he’s all business and breaks hard. We are looking at the next stakes race here at Sunland Park in about 23 days. After that, Ruidoso and then hopefully to the breeding shed.”
Siximoons (First Moonflash-Stevie Six) and Adrian Ramos, riding the gelding for the first time, gained momentum late and

finished in second place for owners Jerry Bailey and Tres Mesa Horses, LLC. Wesley Giles is the trainer.
Coming off a second place effort in the Shue Fly Stakes-RG3 last month, Daddys Blushing (Big Daddy Cartel-Sandy June Bug) ran third for owner Gary W. Hartstack and trainer Jackie Riddle. Francisco Calderon was in the irons.
Followed by Cadilac Flash (First Moonflash-Cowgirl Cadilac), Moneys A Maker (Sixes Royal-Money Smart Gal), He Be Flashy (First Moonflash-Seven Coronas), Everybuddys Talkin (Gonna Ro Sham Bo-Kat Kora), Regard The Rose (Chicks Regard-Not Sable Shes Rose), Jessies Gone (Jessie James Jr-Meter Her Gone) and Jessa Diva (Jesse James Jr-Leading Diva). Flashin Cartel and Masons Moon were both scratched.
