quick-breakers because they’re built like her— they’re big horses. They’re long-striding horses and built to run down the track.”
O’Dell has done well with fillies and mares, something he pointed out was lucky because all nine of the Parsons 2 year olds coming in for 2019 are fillies.
“With fillies, you just have to be patient with them,” the trainer said.
O’Dell trains second-place One Sweet Racy (One Sweet Jess-Miss Racy Vike) for owner Johnny Trotter. Cody Jensen piloted the 5-year-old mare, who was coming off a victory in the 2018 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship-G1.
Jesus Ayala rode A Political Lady (Apollitical Jess-Another Wise Lady) to third for the Parsons Family and trainer Christopher O’Dell. A Political Lady, a 4-year-old filly, has won four stakes, including the 2018 La Primera Del Ano Derby-G3.
Love To Reason BR (Good Reason SA-Strength In Numbers) finished fourth,
and Tickle Ur Fancy (Dominyun-Sizzling Lola) finished fifth. Jess Mas (One Sweet Jess-Corona Mas Fina) and Matilda Czech (Fast Prize Cartel-Short Czech) dead-heated for sixth, followed by Tough To Figure (Walk Thru Fire-Big Jan), Splendid Cause (Apollitical Jess-Answer The Dream) and Kiddy Up Cowgirl (Kiddy Up-Girls Choice).
