Tempting Dash First Moonflash Foose
LEADING FRESHMAN SIRES
One Famous Eagle dominated the standings last year; March debut of 2-year-olds starts the hunt for 2013’s top freshman sire.

There were many people who thought it would never happen – First Down Dash’s freshman sire earnings record couldn’t be broken. They hadn’t seen anything like it before, and they were sure they wouldn’t see anything like it ever again. But nobody counted on One Famous Eagle and his outstanding son One Dashing Eagle.
It happened in late October 2012, when
One Famous Eagle’s offspring earnings hit $2,378,819. More than two decades ago,
First Down Dash’s progeny earnings totaled $2,361,652 for the entire year of 1991. By the end of 2012, One Famous Eagle’s offspring earnings totaled $2,976,549, breaking First Down Dash’s previous record by more than $600,000.
As a freshman sire, First Down Dash was represented on the track by: Champion Royal Quick Dash, winner of the All American Futurity-G1; Dash Ta Fame, winner of the Golden State Futurity-G1; First Down Kelly, winner of the Blue Ribbon Futurity-G1; Rush Fora First Down, a multiple Grade 3 stakes win- ner; and stakes winners IB Quick and Second Down Dash. He went on to become Quarter
Horse racing’s all-time leading sire, with progeny earnings of $79,217,141 through Feb. 19, 2013.
If 2012 is any indication, One Famous Eagle could be on the verge of an equally- successful career. His freshman season got
off to a good start early in the year, when Caballo Famous Eagle finished fourth in the West Texas Futurity-G1 and One Eyed Eagle qualified for the Sam Houston Futurity-G2. Dashaway Eagle was the stallion’s first winner, in a trial to the $31,635 AQHA President’s Open Spring Futurity on April 6. She became his first stakes winner in the finals on April 27.
Things really started to roll when California’s futurity season ramped up.
One Famous Eagle became only the second stallion in Los Alamitos history – joining Corona Cartel – to win a race with a purse
of $1 million or more and then sire a horse
to win such a race when One Dashing Eagle won the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1. One Famous Eagle, AQHA’s 2008 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt, won $1,387,453 in a career that saw him win seven of 11 races, including
