Heritage Place Futurity-G1
JET BLACK GRACE
by John Moorehouse
Jet Black Grace came flying from the out- side to snare victory in the Heritage Place Futurity-G1 on May 29 as part of the Night of Champions card at Remington Park. With a total purse of $1,314,980, it marked the richest horse race in the history of the state of Oklahoma.
The record-setting purse represented a
59 percent increase over the $826,260 sum
in last year’s version of the event, which was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also marked the richest Quarter Horse race ever to take place east of Ruidoso Downs, and the third-richest in the country aside from Ruidoso’s $3 million All American Futurity and Los Alamitos’ $2 Million Futurity.
Zitro Racing Corp. owns Jet Black Grace, a two-year-old gelding who is undefeated through the first three outs of his career. Pedro Ortiz- Castillo, who was on hand representing Zitro Racing, was emotional following the result.
