Danjer, the 2020 AQHA Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Gelding,
is a gem of consistency. First or second in
15 of 20 starts heading into the $322,080 Debbie Schauf Remington Park Invitational Championship-G1 at Remington Park on May 29, the 5-year-old gelded son of FDD Dynasty showed his class in securing the 11th victory of his career in the 440-yard test.
Making just the second start of his 2021 campaign, the Champion raced in third posi- tion early under regular pilot Cody Smith, who was aboard him for all six starts (four wins) a season ago.
In a determined run through the lane, Danjer reeled in early leader and 3-2 race favorite Apollitical Pence approaching the wire to post a narrow victory. Danjer won by a neck and stopped the timer in the fast time of :21.217, earning a 103 speed index for trainer, co-owner, and breeder Dean Frey.
