evangeline Downs Announces Meet Leaders
Evangeline Downs ended its 46-night Quarter Horse meet on Dec. 17 and declared their meet leaders: Ricardo Saul Castillo’s Triple C Racing Stables LLC was the leading owner by wins and Tate Farms was the meet’s leading owner by earnings; Orlando Orozco led all trainers by wins
and Lanny Keith was the leading trainer by earnings; and David Alvarez was the leading jockey by races won and John Hamilton was the leading jockey by earnings.
Lone Star park Announces Meet Leaders
Lone Star Park honored its leading owner, trainer and jockey on Nov. 12, closing night of their Fall American Quarter Horse Meet: Terry and Irene Stennett were named leading owners with 10 winners from 29 starters; Judd Kearl, the current leading trainer in the nation by money earned, topped all trainers with 25 wins from 119 starters; and win- ning 30 races from 120 mounts, Francisco Calderon was the top jockey.
Los Alamitos Announces Meet Leaders
Los Alamitos ended its 151-day 2015- 2016 meet on Dec. 18 with a 2% increase in handle and a 1% increase in average handle. AQHA’s all-time leading owner and breeder Ed Allred was the meets lead- ing Quarter Horse owner; Paul Jones was the leading Quarter Horse trainer for the 18th time in 19 years; and Cesar De Alba was the leading Quarter Horse rider for the first time at the track after clinching the title on the meet’s next to last race.
Will rogers Downs Announces Meet Leaders
Will Rogers Downs wrapped up its 28-day Quarter Horse meet on Nov. 12 and declared their meet leaders: with a perfect 3-for-3 record, 5-year-old mare Another Desire (Desirio-Another Effort, Separatist) was named Horse of the Meet for owners Denis and Julie Schoenhofer and trainer Jose Gamez; Darling Farms took the title of leading owner with 8 wins; Rick Robinson took the leading trainer title with 25 wins; and Agustin Silva and Mario Delgado tied for leading jockey, each riding 43 winners. $21.9 million was wagered during the fall and spring meets at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma.
  Stylish Sign Dies
Multiple stakes producing mare Stylish
Sign died at the age of 18 at Mixer Ranch near Edmond Oklahoma. The “blue hen” mare, who was a daughter of Vital Sign, earned $28,306 over five years at the track. She and her daughters have produced more than $3 million in race earners.
Brookstone Bay Dies
Brookstone Bay (First Down Dash-Le Ritz, Coup De Kas TB) died Nov. 21 at the age of
15 in Utah. Bred by Zory Kuzyk and owned by Chad Richard, Brookstone Bay won the First Down Dash Handicap-G3 and earned $184,769. The leading first crop sire of money earners in 2009, he sired a total of 186 winners and the earners of more than $7.4 million. Among his top performers are Champion and All American Futurity winner Runnning Brook Gal.
