Chicaro Bill, shown below with Ronald Mason at the Hepler Ranch, was a key to the success of the Thoroughbred Chicaro as a sire of Quarter Horse runners.
Chicaro Bill was an important Quarter Horse sire of mares such as Chicado V (shown above), the 1952 Co-Champion Two-Year-Old Filly and the dam of 1958 Champion War Chic & 1960 Champion Table Tennis. Chicado V is also the dam of Triple Chick, Three Chicks and The Ole Man.

stakes races, including the Hopeful Stakes-G1 at seven furlongs and the Tremont Stakes-G3 at 5 1/2 furlongs. Baby Zip is by Relaunch and out of Thirty Zip by Tri Jet.
Magical Illusion, the dam of Stage Magic, was purchased by Glennwood Farm in 2005 to join their broodmare band. She won three of her six starts and was third in the Coaching Club American Oaks-G1. She earned $141,220 in her race career.
Magical Illusion produced six foals with four starters and three winners who have earned $281,359. Her stakes placed runner is Stage Magic. Her second leading money earner is Momentary Magic, an earner of $99,437.
The pedigree of Magical Illusion brings us to three interesting breeding patterns in the pedigree of Justify. The first interesting pattern comes through her sire Pulpit. He
is the winner of $728,200, including the 1997 Blue Grass Stakes-G2 and the 1997 Fountain of Youth-G2. Pulpit sired horses that earned $79,102,353 with 74 black type runners, including: Sky Mesa, winner of
the 2002 Hopeful Stakes-G1 and the Lane’s End Breeders’ Futurity-G2; Pyro, winner
of the Forego Stakes-G1 and the Louisiana Derby-G2; and Ice Box, winner of the 2010 Florida Derby-G2.
Pulpit is by 1992 Horse of the Year
A.P. Indy, winner of that year’s Breeders’
Cup Classic-G1, Belmont Stakes-G1 and
the Santa Anita Derby-G1. He earned $2,979,815 in his race career and sired horses that have won $137,173l,091 with 156 stakes horses. A.P. Indy stakes horses include: Mineshaft, the 2005 Horse of the Year and winner of the Jockey Gold Cup-G1 and the Pimlico Special-G1; Rags To Riches, the 2007 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly and winner of the Belmont Stakes; and Tempera, the Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
A.P. Indy is by 1977 Triple Crown Champion Seattle Slew and he is out of Weekend Surprise by Secretariat. Weekend Surprise won $402,892 while winning races like the Schulyerville Stakes-G3 and the Golden Rod Stakes-G3. Weekend Surprise was the 1992 Broodmare of the Year. Her five stakes winners include Preakness Stakes-G1 winner Summer Squall.
When we bring Storm Cat and A.P. Indy into the same pedigree, we get a nick that has a linebreeding pattern to Secretariat. Storm Cat, being out of Terlingua, and A.P. Indy, being out of Weekend Surprise, is the base
of the linebreeding to Secretariat through these two daughters. Successful racehorses that carry this nick in their pedigree include
