Trane Station V learned his starting gate lessons almost too well. When Optical Illusion false broke in the Dec. 10 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1, Trane Station V went with him. That type of trouble would eliminate most horses’ chances of victory, but Trane Station V would not be denied and won despite the incident.
As if that weren’t enough, Trane Station V also was bumped by Southern Divine to his inside. When the gate opened, Southern Divine came in and bumped Apollitical Open MRL, then pinballed out and also bumped Trane Station V. Undeterred, Trane Station V kept to his task for jockey Francisco Calderon—catching leader Five Bar Supreme. He scored by a half-length in :19.739 for 400 yards.
