Mexican Breeders Futurity Challenge Consolation
KISS HORSE
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translated by Speedhorse
The Mexican Breeders Futurity Challenge Consolation was held among nine of the ten qualifiers, as the filly SE Logans Dash from the Santa Elena Stable was scratched. The purse was $354,720 pesos ($19,206 U.S. approx.), and was contested over 350 yards.
In the trial races, the top qualifier was BR Siete from the Cuadra Baldellí with :17.721, after coming second in his trial on October
1. The only entries from Rancho San Pedro PZH were Kiss Horse and Legendaria Jess, a duo that received the preferences of the betting public with odds of 1.45 to win.
The race was a demonstration of propriety and neatness from the jockeys and horses. From the beginning, the dominance of the colt Kiss Horse (#1) was observed, who stuck to the inside and led the competitive group, attending to the demands of the young rider Carlos De Jesús Baltazar, who knew how to manage him prudently until crossing the finish line by a
neck in front of the filly Per Corona Caliente.
Kiss Horse completed the distance in :17.46 for a speed index of 83, thus forging his third win in seven starts of which he also has a second and two third places.
The awards were
presented by Adriana
Gómez Barnola, Manager
of the Mexican Quarter
Horse Association. Rancho San Pedro PZH was represented by its owner Pedro Zamora, accompanied by trainer Carlos Villanueva Campos, family, friends and supporters.
Kiss Horse was bred by Salomé Gallegos Fernández at Rancho El Corcel, and was consigned to the 2022 Select Yearling Auction where he reached $115,000 pesos ($5,699 U.S. approx.), being repurchased by his breeder
to later sell to its current owner. He is by Sea
Horse Corona and out of Just A Kiss by Foose.
The winner’s share of the purse for this triumph was $177,360 pesos ($9,603 U.S. approx.), to push his total lifetime earnings to $495,844 pesos.
Per Corona Caliente (Corona Caliente-Perridosa) was second under Heriberto Camacho for the Cuadra
Vázquez and the aforementioned trainer Carlos Villanueva Campos. She was bred by Luis Arturo Vázquez Solórzano.
BR Siete (Southern Corona-No Moon Too Soon) placed third, ridden by Leonardo Vidaña. He was bred by Maximiliano Pérez Castañeda, owned by the Cuadra Baldeli and trained by Luis Enrique Cruz Solís.
Doctora Burybuu (Dr Jess Perry-Princess Bury Buu), BR Regidor (Southern Corona- The Icy Queen), Legendaria Jess (Red Storm Cat-Kar Dash Ability B), DK Cartel Time (Danny Cartel-Angela Time), BR Providencia (Southern Corona-Tres Of A Win) and AG Favorite Mighty (Prerogativ-BHB Mighty) completed the order of finish.
