Betty Jane Burlin Passes Away
Betty Jane Burlin, 71, passed away Sept. 27 at her home in Navasota, Texas. Burlin raced
rupture. The stallion earned $76,551, set a high speed index of 112 and won five races, including the Pomona Juvenile Championship. He is the sire of multiple stakes winners and the earners of more than $1 million from four crops to race. Bred by V.F. Elsinore Ranch, Inc. and owned by Julien “Butch” Stevens III, Special Crown Royal had been standing at Hebert Quarter Horses in Welsh, Louisiana. “He will surely be missed,” stated Kellie Hebert. “He was like having a child smile at you every day.”
 Quarter Horses for over 20 years, with her horses earn-
ing over $2.4 million. Her most notable and successful horse was World Champion Tailor Fit si 110 ($1,296,752, Ntr), although she also owned many other stakes winners. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law,

Weather Forces Zia Park To Cancel Two Race Days
Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico, cancelled its weekend races on Sept. 29-30 due to heavy rains. Among the races cancelled was the $55,000-guaranteed Grade 3 Lubbock Stakes for 3-year-old and older fillies and mares.

Grade 1 Recipe:
Sharon Stein
Saute sliced mushrooms & chopped garlic in a small amount of olive oil & combine with penne pasta in a large bowl
Add:
3 cups diced grilled chicken breast (cold)
1 small can sliced olives (drained)
Combine thyme with 1/2-3/4 cup of chicken broth and mix with pasta/chicken in bowl
Add as many cherry tomatoes as you like or sugar snap peas can be used, either raw or slightly steamed & cooled. I also add a can of sliced water chestnuts.
Serve hot or cold with Parmesan cheese & pepper to taste.

1/2 box penne pasta (cooked & drained)
2 cloves garlic
Small box fresh mush-
rooms
3 C. grilled chicken
breast
Small can olives
2 t. ground thyme 1/2-3/4 C. chicken
broth
Cherry tomatoes, sugar
