The photo on page 186 shows World Champion Miss Thermolark (Thermos TB-Missy Jo Lark, Lanolark TB) winning the $125,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos under Kenneth Hart for trainer Blane Schvaneveldt in 1978. Foaled in 1975, Miss Thermolark was bred and owned by Ronny Schliep and amassed $498,877 during her career, winning 17 races, including the Rainbow Futurity, Northeast Kansas QHA Futurity, Blue Ribbon Downs Spring Futurity, Champion of Champions, World’s Championship Classic, Miss Princess Invitational Handicap and HQHRA Inaugural Handicap. As a three year old, she was named World Champion, Champion Three Year Old and Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
After a incredibly successful career on the track, Miss Thermolark went on to produce 100% money earners from 12 starters. Among her top earners are New Track Record setter and 2-Time Stakes Winner Next To The Limit and Foster City Handicap winner Hesaspeciality.
This year’s $600,000 Champion of Champions-G1 was won by He Looks Hot (Walk Thru Fire-Look Her Over, Check Him Out) on Dec. 14.
