                                 Futurity victory, Duponte continued to race well, finishing second in the 2016 Dash for Cash Futurity-G2. Ponce qualified him for this year’s Heritage Place Derby-G2 when the colt won his trial. Duponte finished fourth in the final, raising his earnings to $673,615.
Nymeria earned $489,939 for her Futurity win, pushing Havanah Goodtime’s progeny earnings over $1 million.
Nymeria and Duponte have a strong bottom line. The third dam, Fitting Celebration, was a graded stakes winner and was named the 2004 Broodmare of the Year. Fitting Celebration’s foals include Champion Brimmerton, multiple graded stakes winner Gone Celebrating, and stakes winner Mitford.
Kathleen O. Matey’s homebred Trace Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Wowzer Won) dueled for the lead but was out finished and came in second with G.R. Carter Jr. aboard. Clinton Crawford trains the filly, who won her May 13 trial after finishing third in a maiden race.
PYC Fun N Fancy (PYC Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Fancy) ran third for jockey Daniel Torres. Luz Chavira trains the colt for owner Jose Guzman. PYC Fun N Fancy earlier won Laico Bird Stakes and finished second in the Oklahoma Futurity-G3.
Completing the field were Bird Train (Freighttrain B-Laico Bird Chic), Descent (FDD Dynasty-Coronaville), Despain GI (Desirio-Pain And Pleasure) and Olena Sangria (Dashair-Mt Rob This Corona). All American Stone, Every Chicks Favorit, and Hez Our Boy were scratched.
