“The first part of March, we didn’t know if we were even going to start him,” the condi- tioner stated. “He just wasn’t figuring things out, and for him to change so much in this length of time is just amazing to me.
“My horse broke good,” Giles added. “We probably fell behind a little bit early, but he came on strong.”
Uptown Dynasty has now won two of his three starts and the $300,000 winner’s share takes his bank to $303,000.
Uptown Dynasty was bred in Oklahoma by Sam W. Green of Monett, Missouri. The gelding is one of three winners from as many starters produced by Ms Southern Dynasty. A 7-year-old daughter of Champion FDD
Dynasty, Ms Southern Dynasty won the 2012 Hialeah Lassie Futurity and was third in the 2013 Hialeah Sophomore Invitational.
Both Kearl and Giles are confident that their geldings can handle the added distance of the 400-yard Rainbow Futurity-G1 trials on July 7-8, and the 440-yard All American Futurity-G1 trials in August.
So does Vallejo.
“I think going longer would be perfect for him,” the rider of Eagle Jazz said. “He’s never made an error, except for this race at the start, but I think he will handle the distance.”
We imagine Vidana, who has been the regular rider of Uptown Dynasty, feels simi- larly about his mount.
This Is A Deal Too (Dealagame-Lady Lilia) finished third, 1-length behind Eagle Jazz and Uptown Dynasty. Francisco Calderon rode the homebred gelding for owner Pete Scarmardo of Caldwell, Texas, and trainer Jackie Riddle.
Aeropodium (One Famous Eagle-Modice) ran fourth, 1 1/2-lengths behind the winners, and was followed by She Eat Fire (Corona Cartel-Fast Prize Tracy), High Rate Of Motion (High Rate Of Return-Brimmers Motion), Big Daddys Winner (Big Daddy Cartel-Mnv Expect To Win), Luminatre (First Moonflash-Shesa First Ratify), U R
My Queen (Walk Thru Fire-Thatsa Blazin Chick), and Brown Tres Seis (Tres Seis-Brown Eye Suze).
