a 2 year old including, the 1969 Juvenile Invitational Handicap.
Bunny’s Bar Maid is the dam of 14 foals with 11 ROM and two stakes winners. Five of her foals were sired by Go Man Go, including her two stakes winners. All five recorded a speed index of 90 or above. Her other three runners from this cross are Born To Rule, Ya Got Trouble and Four Forty Queen.
Four Forty Queen became a broodmare for her breeder, Spencer Childers. She is the dam of 12 foals with 11 starters with 10 ROM, including two stakes winners and one stakes placed runner. Her stakes winners are Lady Winsmore, winner of the 1972 Johnny Dial Stakes, and Sir Rambler, winner of the 1976 Fresno Futurity. Her stakes placed runner is Sir Diamonds, who was third in the 1971 Moon Deck Stakes.
Four Forty Queen is the dam of two million-dollar sires, Sir Winsalot, with earnings of over $1.2 million, and Sir Rambler, with earnings of over $1.4 million. This great mare is the second dam of another million-dollar sire, Rare Jet who is out of Rare View, a daughter of Four Forty Queen. Rare Jet sired horses that earned over $3.1 million, including Refrigerator. Two-time World Champion and 8-time Champion Refrigerator won the Champion of Champions three times and also won the 1990 All American Futurity.
A look at the pedigree of Be A Bono will show how Four Forty Queen influenced
the Childers breeding program. Be A Bono was the 2004 World Champion, Champion 3 Year Old and the Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding. He won over $1.3 million with nine stakes wins, all in Grade 1 races. His stakes wins include the Spencer L. Childers Handicap-RG1, which he won three times, and the Vessels Maturity-G1 twice.
The sire of Be A Bono is Bono Jazz who is out of Pro Bono. Pro Bono is out of Rare Clover by Ettabo and out of Rare View, a daughter of Four Forty Queen. Rare View
is sired by Tiny Charger. The dam of Be A Bono is Be Peacefull out of Serenidad by Sir Rambler, who is sired by Ettabo out of Four Forty Queen. This gives the pedigree of Be A Bono a breeding pattern of 3 X 3 to collateral relatives and 3/4-brother and sister Rare Clover and Sir Rambler.
When we look at the pedigree of Serenidad, we see that her dam is Keynesian, a daughter of Oneforthemoney who is out of Bunny’s Bar Maid, making her a 1/2-sister to Four Forty Queen.
The next factor we want to look at in the pedigree of Be A Bono is the mating of Four Forty Queen, a Go Man Go/Three Bars cross on the blood of Depth Charge. A look at
Ettabo shows that he is sired by Deep Sun TB by Depth Charge and that Tiny Charger, the sire of Rare Clover’s dam Rare View, was also sired by Depth Charge TB.
Ettabo adds another factor as his dam is Etta Leo by Leo. Etta Leo is the dam of Goetta. The mating of Ettabo and Four Forty Queen revisits the pedigree cross that produced Goetta.
The Go Man Go cross on Depth Charge mares produced two stakes winners, including Fancy Charge (Marsh Light by Depth Charge) from his 1962 foal crop. Fancy Charge is the winner of the 1965 Sunland Park Fall Derby. She is the dam
of Mr Kid Charge, the 1971 All American Futurity winner. Champion Mr Kid Charge became a million-dollar sire with his foals earning over $2.5 million.
The sire of Mr Kid Charge is Kid Meyers by Three Bars and out of Miss Meyers by Leo. Miss Meyers is the dam of Mr Meyers by Go Man Go. This ties the blood of Go Man Go not only with the blood of Depth Charge, but to the blood of Three Bars and Leo as well.
The second stakes winner sired by Go Man Go and out of a Depth Charge mare
is Go Three Deep, winner of the 1968 La Pitahaya Derby. The dam of Go Three Deep is Three Deep. Three Deep is the dam of Jet Deep, the leading money earner sired by Mr Meyers by Go Man Go.
A look at the Go Man Go cross on Depth Charge takes us to Go Man Go’s sons Windy Ryon and Some Kinda Man. Windy Ryon, Some Kinda Man and Dash For Cash were all products of the breeding arrangement between B. F. Phillips Jr. and the King Ranch to use King Ranch speed bred mares to breed running Quarter Horses.
Windy Ryon is out of Silent Light by Dividend by Depth Charge. Silent Light is out of the King Ranch mare Lantana Belle TB, a daughter of Beau Max and out of Lantana Queen by Depth Charge. This gives Silent Light a breeding pattern of 2 X 3 to Depth Charge. Dividend stood at the Phillips Ranch when he was bred to Lantana Queen.
Windy Ryon won the 1977 New Mexico State Fair Handicap and sired horses that earned over $5 million. He is the sire of the Champion and All American Futurity winner Ronas Ryon, who has sired horses that have won over $8.9 million.
Some Kinda Man is out of the King Ranch Thoroughbred mare Anaqua, who
is by Beau Max and out of Lantana Queen, making Anaqua a full sister to Lantana Belle. Some Kinda Man won three stakes races, including the Ruidoso Derby, and is a million-dollar sire of $2.1 million.
The Go Man Go cross to Depth Charge can be seen in sires Windy Ryon and Some Kinda Man. Both sires, as well as Dash For Cash, are products of the breeding arrangement by B.F. Phillips Jr. with King Ranch.
Champion/Million-dollar sire Windy Ryon.
World Champion broodmare-sire Some Kinda Man.
Dash For Cash traces to the Three Bars sire line through his son Rocket Bar TB.
