DTL Samureye made short work of eight rivals in the $52,000 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint and Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Lone
Star Park on Oct. 28.
DTL Samureye, the fourth-fastest quali-
fier from the Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity trials on Oct. 13, contested the lead from the start in the finals.
Despite exchanging bumps early, the flashy sorrel gelding broke third from the eight post. DTL Samureye grabbed com- mand in the lane. The gelding and rider Jesse Levario drew clear of the crowd, taking the lead to win the 400-yard dash by a dominant 1 3/4-lengths.
He covered the distance in :19.918, earning a speed index of 91 to record his first stakes victory for trainer Alonso Neri.
DTL Samureye added the $19,760 winner’s share of the purse to his coffers, raising his bankroll to $32,720. It was his second win in six lifetime starts. The gelding also finished
second in the Colors of the Alamo Futurity at Retama Park on Aug. 5, and was a finalist in the PSBA Futurity-G1 at Remington Park on April 29.

Second Sign (Second Painted Sign-Allies Apollo), also captured his trial for the fastest qualifying time and is owned and trained by Michael Moss. Ronna Lively bred the filly in Oklahoma.
Hotwiredotcom (CRM Livewire- Iwilliewantarunner), owned and bred by Shirely Wheeler and trained by Guillermo Valdivia, finished fourth and ended up as the 2017 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown High Point Champion honoree.
MKP on the Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Born Kool), Ima Good Time Charlie (First Smart Money-Jezebellway), El Diablo Chicken (SF Royal Quick Flash-Game Chicken), GB Star (Texas Six-Star Trace) and JS Apollo Six (Texas Six-JS Apollos Pride) completed the order of finish. Bully Pulpit, the third-fastest qualifier and only other contender for Speedhorse Triple Crown High Point Champion, was scratched.
