QUALIFIERS TO THE 2018 GRADE 1, $1,238,000
All American Derby
The $1,238,000 All American Derby, Quarter Horse racing’s richest race for three year olds, will be run on Sept. 2 at Ruidoso Downs. On Aug. 19, 11 trials narrowed down the field to 10 finalists.
Fastest qualifier Dashnunder Afullmoon was one of four horses supplemented to the All American Derby trials for $50,000.
Only one of the four supplemental entries — KVN Corona — failed to qualify for the finals. The other two supplemental entries, Jess Move You and PYC Fun N Fancy, qualified with the fifth and 10th spots, respectively.
PYC Paint Your Wagon is the only stallion to be represented by more than one qualifier, as he has four offspring in the top 10.
James Flores rode two qualifiers, and is the only jockey with more than one horse qualified for the finals.
In the owner ranks, Jose Ernesto Guzman qualified two horses, one of which he owns in partnership with Rito Sosa.
