It’s amazing how fleeting the phenomenon of “greatness” can be. We see a horse achieve greatness as a performer and then
they are gone. We often find that they are gone as fast as they came on the scene.
Great horses will leave the arena or the track in a variety of ways. They may retire from competition and go on to breed the next generation or, in the case of geldings, they may go to their retirement home. Sadly, some are taken when they are lost through an accident or illness.
Fame Fling N Bling, or “Bling” as she is known to the world, was one of those rare individuals that rose to greatness. She earned $753,645 as a barrel racing phenomenon, carrying her barrel racing partner Sarah Rose McDonald to such titles as the 2013 Equi-Stat 1D Horse of the Year and the 2014 WPRA Rookie of the Year. The pair was third in
the WPRA Top Ten in 2015 and came back in 2016 to win RFD-TV’s The American Barrel Racing Championship. After that, they finished up 2016 at the number 10 spot in the WPRATopTen.
In early 2017, the path of greatness for Bling came to an end when she died from
