has been the #1 leading sire of barrel horse money earners for 15 years. His leading money winner is Dash Ta Diamonds ($478,049). Some of his other barrel runners with over $200,000 in earnings include Sierra Hall Of Fame, Real Claim To Fame, Terrible Tommy Twist, Kisskiss Bangbang, Famous Silk Panties, The Red Dasher, Hoosier Fame and JL Dash Ta Fame.
The impact of Dash Ta Fame on barrel racing comes into focus when we look at
the WPRA qualifiers to the 2016 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The top 15 qualifiers rode 36 horses to make the top 15. Dash
Ta Fame is the sire, maternal grandsire,
or paternal grandsire of 14 of them. They include Sadiesfamouslastwords, Blazin Baby J, Cartels Fame, A Frosty Please, Cfour Tibbie Stinson, Cuatro Fame, Ross Cantina CC, Fame Fling N Bling, Stitchs Honor Fame, Shameon U, Dash Ta Diamond, Dashing Klee, UR One Famous Rebel and TKW Bullysfamous Fox. Cfour Tibbie Stinson was the 2016 AQHA/WPRA Barrel Horse of the Year.
Dash Ta Fame has sired 199 point earners that have earned 3,288 points, with 99 performance ROM in the open, amateur, and youth divisions. He is the sire of 13
Superior performers, six World Champions, and three Reserve World Champions. His foals have won $91,661 at the AQHA World Championship Show, and he is the sire of two horses that have been High Point winners. Atlas Peak, a 2002 gelding, was the 2009 High Point Barrel Horse and 2009 World Champion Senior Barrel Racing Horse. He earned Superiors in open and amateur barrel racing. Famous Ed is a three-time Barrel Racing World Champion in both senior
and junior barrels. FM Radio is a World Champion in Junior Barrels. JL Dash Ta Heaven is an AQHA World Champion Pole Bending Horse. What Fame is an AQHA World Champion in Junior Barrels, and he was also used by Sarah Rose McDonald in the 2015 in WPRA barrel racing event.
The contribution of Dash Ta Fame to the racing and barrel industries has continued over into his broodmare sire progeny, with daughters that have produced runners of over $17 million, including 539 racing ROM, 58 stakes winners, and 66 stakes placed runners. His maternal grandget include Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Five Bar Cartel ($1,068,370), who won the 2013 Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1.
Dash Ta Fame is also the maternal grandsire of horses that have won $5.3 million in barrel racing. His leading money earner
is Fame Fling N Bling. His second leading earner is Sadiesfamouslastwords, who carried Mary Burger to the 2016 WPRA Barrel Racing World Championship. His third leading money earner is TKW Bullysfamous Fox, another WNFR qualifier in 2016.

Shannon describes the conformation and disposition of Short Penny, “She was a nice, good solid built mare. She was not exactly refined and not super pretty headed, but built to last. And that is what I like to breed for.
“I don’t remember if Short Penny had a race record,” she continued. “The gentleman I bought her from knew her background, so I asked a lot of questions about her disposition. I knew she didn’t have any kind of big record, but just getting my hands on a Dash Ta Fame with Sold Short on the bottom
was something I was excited about. Don Burt had expressed that was a good cross. The Dash Ta Fame on Sold Short and Easy Mumbo were two of his favorites, he told me about in a conversation that we had.”
As to why she sold Short Penny, Shannon said, “I was interested in getting a more proven record for my broodmare band. I had one in mind and now I know that move was probably the biggest mistake of my life. I love selling babies, but I regret selling that mare.”
Dash Ta Fame was bred and owned by Don Burt. He was raced in 1991 and 1992, earning stakes wins in the Golden State Futurity-G1 at two and the El Primero Del Ano Derby-G1 at three. He ran second in Corona Chick’s Dash For Cash Futurity and was third QHBC Championship Classic. He was a New Track Record setter, earning a 113-speed index at Laurel Brown Race Track going 300 yards in :15.260. He had cumulative lifetime earnings of $290,812, winning seven of his 13 starts.
Dash Ta Fame went on from the racetrack to put together a most unusual
sire record. He is the #20 all-time leading sire of racing money earners, with earners of over $19 million. He is the sire of 900 racing
