Short And Dusty is the dam of six foals and five ROM, including stakes winner Short Thrill, who won the Budweiser Classic Futurity, and Lucky Door Prize, winner of the American-Canadian Futurity-G3 and the Budweiser Classic Futurity. by Dash Ta Fame who finished third in the Rupert Chamber of Commerce Futurity.
The sire of Short And Dusty is Sold Short, a son of Go Man Go who scored wins in the Bay Meadows Futurity and Golden State Futurity. He had 11 starts with seven wins, earning $182,373. Sold Short is the sire of $2.2 million, including leading earner Short Wink ($120,136). Sold Short is out of Carlotta 2 by Three Bars TB. Carlotta 2 is out of Twayna who is sired by Rebel Cause and out of Yeager’s Lady JA, the dam of FL Lady Bug. The FL Lady Bug family produced barrel influencing sires Lady Bug’s Moon and Bugs Alive In 75.
The dam of Short And Dusty is Dusty Game, a stakes placed runner with a second in the Oneida County Fair Futurity and a third in the Rupert Chamber of Commerce Derby. Shannon Akerstrom tells how the breeding of Short Penny to A Streak
Of Fling came about, “A good friend of mine, Jerry Sipes, is a very knowledgeable horseman and he inspired me to breed to Streaker. He knew his lineage and said, ‘This horse is going to turn barrels. He is going to be a sire. I knew his mama, I knew his second dam and I know his daddy.’ He really felt like Streaker would be a good barrel sire and I believe in Jerry.”
She explained her faith in Jerry this way, “It goes back to those old stories and the good times when guys like Jerry were there and saw these horses. It wasn’t like they bred
  of $349,105 in barrel racing. The foals of Merganser include World Champion Barrel Racing Horse Miss Mergie and his leading money earner Shesa Mergie ($83,918).
The sire of Tiny’s Gay is 1965 and 1966 World Champion Tiny Watch, who has had an important impact on barrel racing through his foals like his son Tiny Circus. Tiny Circus is the broodmare sire of 4-time WPRA World Champion French Flash Hawk (Bozo) and PC Frenchmans Hayday (Dinero), who is a successful barrel horse and team roping horse but also the sire of MP Meter My Hay (Stingray), winner of $1.5 million. Dinero is also the sire of DM Sissy Hayday, the 2017 RFD-TV’s The American Barrel Racing Champion.
The dam of Tiny’s Gay is Gay’s Delight, a lightly raced mare with three wins in eleven starts and $19,460 earned on the track. Two of her wins were in the Inaugural Handicap and the Juvenile Championship. Gay’s Delight is the dam of 15 foals, 13 starters, and 11 ROM, including five stakes winners. Her stakes winners, in addition to Tiny’s Gay, include Chick’s Delight, winner of the Sugarloaf Futurity; Chicks Gay, winner of the Twin Sister Futurity; Go Gay, winner
of the QROA Derby; and Top Moons Gay, winner of the John Phillips Handicap. Gay’s Delight is by Rocket Bar and out of Miss Ginger Gay by Palleo Pete, who is by Leo and out of Osage Star Lady by Osage Star.
Race winner Tiny’s Delight was also out of Gay’s Delight and is a full sister to Tiny’s Gay. Tiny’s Delight is the dam of Our Third Delight, who is the dam of Champion Aged Stallion Dean Miracle, Broodmare of the Year Fortune Of Delight, and Champion Two-Year-Old Colt Tres Seis. Tres Seis is a leading sire of race winners and also a leading sire of foals that have Equi-Stat barrel racing earnings of $1,016,698. His leading money winner in barrel racing is Dashin Czar ($144,131).
Sudden Fame, by Tiny’s Gay, is out of Bar Dearie, who scored five wins at ages two and three. Bar Dearie earned $17,526 winning the Zia Handicap. She is the dam of 11 foals, 10 starters, nine ROM, and two stakes winners. Two of her stakes winners are Brazen Britches, winner of the Pacific Handicap-G3 and Moon Deck Stakes, and Levis N Lace, winner of the Cow Capital Turf Club Futurity where she set a New Track Record for 300 yards in :15.860. Bar Dearie is by Lake Erie TB and out of Barred Girl by Mackay Boy. Barred Girl is out of Barred Hug, by Barred. The dam of Barred Hug is Hug Me Tight by Driftwood and out of Nugget Hug by Bear Hug.
     2-time World Champion Tiny Watch (above), the sire of Tiny’s Gay, who is broodmare sire of Dash Ta Fame, has had an impact on barrel racing as a sire of sires, including Tiny Circus.
