2 Inductee Frank Merrill, who also accepted
the award for the 1971 gelding Royal Santana (Peppy San-Royal Smart). Merrill’s Royal Santana was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2000 after receiving AQHA World Champion and Reserve World Champion titles as a cutting horse. Royal Santana, who died in 1995, earned over $171,000. 4 Bud Breeding (right) presents the award for Stuart Ranch to Terry Stuart Forst
5 Bud Breeding presents to Roy Fisher the award for his 1939 mare Trixie Blake (Bert-Blake Mare), who produced three AQHA show Champions. Fisher also accepted for the 1934 stallion Bert (Tommy Clegg-Lady Coolidge). Bert was one of the most influential sires in the early years of the AQHA. Although Fisher did not own Bert, he breeds Bert and Trixie Blake offspring at his ranch.
6 Inductee Lee Allan Smith receives the Bud Breeding Oklahoma Spirit Award. The award honors individuals who exemplify the spirit of Oklahoma Western Heritage by involvement in equine activities.
