now Moose scored his second stakes victory with a
wire-to-wire win in the $23,496 QROOI Derby at Ajax Downs on May 24. Ridden by Brian Bell, Snow Moose broke on top from the 1-post and was clearly the best as he made his way to the finish line with a neck margin of victory. The gelding completed the 300-yards in :15.806 for an 82 speed index.
Snow Moose secured the $9,494 winner’s share of the purse for owner/breeder Milena Kwiecien and trainer Jason Pascoe, boosting his cumulative earnings to $42,709. Snow Moose was the third fastest qualifier in the May 10 trials to this event.
During his career thus far, Snow Moose has won or placed in five of his seven starts, which includes a victory in the 2022 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity at Ajax Downs over a sloppy track.
Kwiecien bred Snow Moose out of multiple winner Favorite Pearl, a half-sister to New Mexico Hi-Point Aged Mare Jenuine Joy who is a winner of five stakes races. Snow Moose is her first foal. Snow Moose’s second dam is Super Perla Negra, who was a finalist in the 2001 Lou Wootan Handicap-RG3.
Milena Kwiecien and Jason Pascoe also teamed up on runner-up Valiant Chick Insnow (Valiant Hero-AJ Chick In 15), who was ridden by J. Botello. The filly was also second in the 2022 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity. Tony Phillips rode Sour Candy (Jess Good Candy-Tayter To The Top) to a third place finish for owner Richard Wincikaby and trainer Michelle Woodley. The gelding won last year’s QROOI Bonus Futurity at Ajax Downs.
Dam Im Relentless (Hes Relentless-Amsterdam), Krash On Okey (Krash Cartel-Stayin On Okey), Adreamtobuildakisson (Dashair-Tres Seis Smooches), Kati On Fire (Capo De Capi-Catchin Fire) and A Shades Of Cold (Cold Hard Dash-Sassy Shades Of Gray) completed the order of finish. Fastest qualifier One Fabulous Wave was scratched.

CRYPTO TRAIN
bTy Tracy Gantz
rainer Jason Pascoe saddled half of the field in
the six-horse QROOI Bonus Futurity on June 18 at Ajax Downs. He came away with a one-two finish, as Crypto Train defeated Eye Tempt You.
Brian Bell piloted Crypto Train, and they broke well out of the gate. Crypto Train went to the front and battled with Eye Tempt You to the wire of the 250-yard event, stopping the timer in :13.782 for a neck victory.
The stablemates had met once before, in their racing debuts. In that May 31 maiden race at Ajax, Eye Tempt You won by a neck over Crypto Train. Five of the six in the QROOI Bonus Futurity came out of that maiden race, while the sixth, Senator Of Magic, was unraced prior to the futurity.
Bryanne Sheppard owns Crypto Train, and Dr. Larry Findley bred the filly in Louisiana from unraced Gametime Gal. The mare has produced three winners in seven starters. Gametime Gal is a full sister to Jet Black Patriot, winner of the 2008 Lee Berwick Futurity-RG1, Louisiana QHBA Futurity-RG1, and Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2, and second in the 2008 All American Futurity-G1. She is also a half-sister to Wil Tycoon, winner of the Develop A Plan Stakes-G3. Crypto Train’s second dam is winner First Down Hemp.
Pascoe owns Eye Tempt You (One Valiant Hero- Tempt Yin You), who was ridden by J.B. Botello. Eye Tempt You’s maiden win was the first start of his career.
Willie Lump Lump (Big Lew-Valdarama), owned by Carol and Jaime Robertson and trained by Bryn Robertson, finished third for jockey Josh Scott. Willie Lump Lump ran third to Eye Tempt You and Crypto Train in the May 31 maiden race.
Completing the field were Lady Alice (FDD Dynasty-Leanintoit), Senator Of Magic (Maryland Magic-Silky Senator), and Papa Chase Now (Ocean Dinastia-Bajillion).
