Apollitical J Wild became the fastest overall qualifier to the All American Futurity after making a steady run in his heat. The sorrel colt began his career at Sunland Park in the trials to the West Texas Futurity. He finished second there, qualified, and ran fifth in the $323,571 Grade 2 finals. Apollitical J Wild then
moved to Ruidoso Downs for the Ruidoso Futurity trials, coming in a distant seventh and failing to qualify. Next were the trials to the Rainbow Futurity where the colt overcame a poor break, gathered himself, and finished second but did not qualify. Things turned around in the All American Futurity trials. Apollitical J Wild broke last from the seven-hole, but he was in the lead at the first call. The colt held a head margin through the top of the stretch and then lengthened out to finish 3/4-lengths to the good under jockey Paul Garcia. Apollitical J Wild is by World Champion/multiple Champion sire Apollitical Jess, who sired 2018 All American Futurity winner Apocalyptical Jess and All American Derby winners Apollitical Blood in 2015 and Hold Air Hostage in 2017. Apollitical J Wild is a half-brother to Graded stakes placed winner

he finished fifth – his only defeat. He next went wire-to-wire in his trial to the Zia Futurity for the fastest qualifying spot to the $434,210 finals where he again went wire-
to-wire to win by 2 1/2-lengths. In winning his trial to the All American Futurity, Mister Riptide and Ricky Ramirez stepped out of the one-hole mid-pack, held second place at the first call and they had the lead at the top of the stretch, crossing the wire 1/2-length to the good. This victory gives the gelding three wins in a row going into the finals. Bred by MJ Farms, Mister Riptide is owned by Mark and Annette McCloy and is trained by James Gonzales II. Mister Riptide is by unraced Woodbridge, who is the sire of nearly $4 million in earners. The gelding is the first stakes winner out of Ms Riptide, who won the 2011 Sam Houston Distaff Challenge and earned over $68,000 on the track. The second dam is Grade 3 winner and multiple stakes producer Sixes Ms Perry, who is a sister to three additional blacktype runners. The third dam in this family is Grade 1 winner Mame Smashed ($117,779).
