Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association Executive Director Debbie Schauf works tirelessly to promote American
Quarter Horse racing everywhere.
Schauf is in the forefront of leadership
around the nation, and before her tenure
at OQHRA also held the same positions
at the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association and the Texas Quarter Horse Association. A member of the AQHA Racing Committee, she is also a member of many national and state committees responsible
for facets of the industry such as champion voting, state-bred programs, model rules and medications.
Among her 2012 contributions, Schauf donated her time and knowledge to support other affiliates as far-flung as Florida and Idaho. She attended industry meetings, hear- ings, and worked on proposed legislation and draft rules to provide the greatest benefit for the industry.
“Debbie Schauf has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help out her fellow horse- men not only in Oklahoma, but in other racing states as well,” said her nominator. “Debbie knows that when racing in one state wins, we all win. That is why she continually reaches out and lends her knowledge, experience, expertise and passion to AQHA members and affiliates across the country.”
Dr. Glenn Blodgett presents the Mildred N. Vessels Special Achievement Award to Debbie Schauf.

Ben Hudson purchased his first Quarter Horse as a teenager in the 1950s. Since then, in his long tenure in American Quarter
Horse racing, he has served many parts of the industry, most prominently as the publisher and editor of Track Magazine but also as a breeder and owner who has been involved
in the appraisal and sale of some of the most prominent racing Quarter Horses of the past 40 years.
Along with Jerry McAdams, Hudson founded Track in 1975. He is now the sole owner of the oldest independently-owned publication serving what he calls, “the running Quarter Horse business.”
In the late 1970s, Hudson became a mem- ber of the AQHA Racing Committee and was instrumental in the formation of the associa- tion’s Racing Council. In 1987, he became an AQHA Director and in 2001 was elected to the Racing Council, where he served as vice-chair- man. He is currently a director-at-large and is
serving on AQHA’s stud book and registration committees.
Hudson is past president of the Texas Quarter Horse Association and is a member of the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
In 2002, Hudson won the Gordon Crone Achievement Award.
