Chirina Glorys Classic
DANCING PERRY DOLL
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translated by Speedhorse
In honor of the Mexican Champion Chirina Glorys (1992), who without a doubt was the best offspring in Mexico by the stallion
Jodys Glory and out of the mare MS Zip Zevi by Zevi TB, the Chirina Glorys Classic was run on April 2 over 350 yards for a purse of $248,500 pesos (approx. $13,510 U.S.).
The race was reserved for fillies and mares three years and older, and was run with five horses, all bred in the United States. The gray mare Speedy Moon First stood out in the group, having won this classic in 2022 when she set the track record record of :16.77 and since then has not appeared on the Hipodromo de las Americas racetrack. Consequently, she was the favorite in the betting, but could not repeat her feat and finished in fourth place.
It was the chestnut mare Dancing Perry Doll, who at the start determined to dominate the group from the 5-post under jockey José Manuel Cisneros. She moved freely and without much pressure, gradually increasing
her lead until reaching the finish line with a 3/4-length lead over the bay mare Makit Snappi.
Dancing Perry Doll covered the distance in :17.40, while posting an 85 speed index.
This is the first stakes that
Dancing Perry Doll is credited
with, adding $124,250 pesos
(approx. $6,755 U.S.) to her
bankroll. This marks her fifth
win from 12 starts, as well as one second and two third places. She broke her maiden on March 17, 2019, the season in which she also won her Junior Championship trial and finished in eighth place in the final. She was second in the José Merced Gómez Orozco Classic and third in the Velocidad Classic, the latter on March 5, 2023.
Dancing Perry Doll was bred in the United States by Grant Farms LLC and is by Mr Jess Perry and out of the mare Imdancinwiththestars
by Furyofthewind. She is owned by Cuadra Valeria and she was saddled by trainer Saúl Pérez Robredo.
The award ceremony was led by Gregorio León, owner of Dancing Perry Doll, accompanied by Saúl Pérez Robredo and several members of his team. They received the awards from Adriana Gómez Barnola,
Manager of the Mexican Association of Quarter Horse Breeders and Horsemen, accompanied by Mauricio Rodrigo Ayala, President of the Mexican Committee of Arbitration and Surveillance of Horse and Greyhound Racing, A.C.
Makit Snappy (One Dashing Eagle-Duck Mea Running) finished in second place under Gabriel Antonio Vega. She is owned by Rancho La Soledad de Álvarez, where she is trained by Adán López Alejandre. She is the winner of the
