Rillito 80th Anniversary Stakes
CHOCOLATE WAGON

Chocolate Wagon showed lots of grit by overcoming a bad start in the running of the 350-yard $19,000 Rillito Park 80th Anniversary Stakes.
Ridden by Martin Osuna, the black 6-year-old gelding broke in fourth from the 7-post. Running in fourth at the first call, they secured the lead about half way through the sprint to cross the finish line a neck in front.
Trained by Alvaro Monteverde, Chocolate Wagon competed the distance in :17.740, while posting a 99 speed index.
Chocolate Wagon collected the $10,450 winner’s share of the purse for owner/breeder Adalberto Hernandez, boosting his lifetime earnings to $60,904. In addition to this event, the gelding has also won the Mark T Bars Stakes last year and was a runner-up in the Mark Villa Memorial.
Hernandez bred the gelding out of lightly raced Dashing Righter. She has produced 100% winners from two starters with Chocolate Wagon being her first stakes winner.
Holiday Train (Freighttrain B-Holiday Credit) took a hard bump at the start and hung on to finish second under Antonio Bazan for owner Danny Cruz and trainer Danny Hernandez. The gelding has won three races.
JJJ Runaway Train (BP Wagon Train-Runaway Judy) and jockey David Pinon came in third for owner Cesar Moreno and trainer Omar Cruz. The gelding was also third in the Rilliito Derby earlier this year.
From Above (Kiddy Up-Celestial Being TB) was fouth, and Pirteville Cartel (Flair For Dancing- Buds Pretty In Blue), Arizona Favorite (Favorite Cartel-Check Her For Cash), Stone Cash (Mr Corona Cash-Oneslickstone) and Socially Awkward (Seperate Interest-Snootie Socialite) completed the order of finish.
Rillito Park Championship
JESS ZOOMIN SENATOR

Making the 32nd start of her career, veteran mare Jess Zoomin Senator triumphed in the $22,000 Rillito Park Championship on April
2 to collect her first stakes victory. This race also concluded the 80th season of Quarter Horse racing at Rillito Park.
Monica Ortega trains Jess Zoomin Senator, who completed her trip in :12.954 for a 112 speed index, surpassing her effort in qualifying. Martin Osuna, the top rider at the Rillito meet, was aboard for the stakes-winning run.
Jess Zoomin Senator won her trial for the Rillito Championship, covering the 250 yards in :13.107 to stand fourth on the qualifying ladder.
She was the fastest in the field for the stakes final. Jess Zoomin Senator broke on top from the No. 6 gate, was running a close second going into the stretch, then rallied to beat Maximus Fastus to the wire by a head.
Danny and Joseph Riesgo own Jess Zoomin Senator, who now holds eight total victories. The $12,100 payday from the race increased the eight- year-old mare’s lifetime earnings to $69,965.
Wootan Racing bred Jess Zoomin Senator out of unraced JZ Annie. Jess Zoomin Senator is her first foal. Maximus Fastus (Seperate Interest-Sassytacs)
secured runner-up honors for owner/trainer Angeladrian Dominguez. David Reyes-Frisby had the riding assignment. Dominguez also trains One Folly Dash V (One Valiant Hero-Special Folly Dash), who placed third in a blanket finish. Cecilia Perez is the owner and Jesus Osuna was the jockey.
Fabulously Me (One Fabulous Eagle-Just Wanna Be Me), Bo Times 9 (Turbulent Times- Chivatos Secret), Tubac Royale (Flair For Dancing- Spectacular Fit) and Swingin Mr Cartel (Favorite Cartel-Swingin Miss Jess) completed the order of finish. Walk To The Top scratched.
Dashing Folly Handicap
REMEMBER HER

Remember Her has been steadily improving in her stakes performances, and she became a stakes winner in the $30,000 Dashing Folly Handicap at
Los Alamitos on April 8. It was also her first effort against older fillies and mares.
With Jonathan Roman aboard for trainer Scott Willoughby, Remember Her blasted out of the 8-post to take the immediate lead in the 350-yard Dashing Folly. She never relinquished it, winning by a 1/2-length in :17.753, while posting a 90 speed index.
When facing her own age group, Remember Her ran third in the 2022 Holiday Handicap and second in the 2023 Queen For Cash Handicap. Dr. Ed Allred owns the filly, who in 10 starts has won four, finished second four times, and finished third once.
Allred bred Remember Her in California out of his homebred winning mare Remembering Florence. The third dam is multiple graded stakes winner Sables Secret. Remembering Florence has produced one other winner and starter.
Gotta Corona Jess (Apollitical Jess-Gotta Corona Pop), who ran second, was making her first start since winning the 2022 Dashing Folly. Ricardo Ramirez rode the 5-year-old mare for owner Manuel Alvarez and trainer Adan Farias. Gotta Corona Jess was second in the Sound Dash Handicap and third in the Chiquitas Stakes in 2021.
Blane Bateman’s homebred Suite Caroline (Favorite Cartel-Just A Fairytale) finished third under jockey Jesus Ayala for trainer Monty Arrossa. The 3-year-old filly won the 2022 Los Alamitos Wild West Futurity-G3 and has placed in two other stakes.
Completing the field were One Sweet Duck (One Sweet Jess-Duck Dash N Go), Fearless Fortitude (Flare For Ivory-Ima Fearless Fire), Temple Court (Favorite Cartel-Remember Me Rose), Crystal Prize (Fast Prize Cartel-Walk Thru Crystal), and Letty Cartel (Fast Prize Cartel-Letty Bail Regis Out).
