Revelatión Classic
STAY AND PLAY NR
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Speedhorse
With seven participants three year olds and older who have never won a stakes, the 32nd edition of the Revelation Classic was held on May 15, over a distance of 350 yards and for a purse of $307,900 pesos ($15,076 U.S. approx.).
All entrants had enough experience and genetic quality to deserve to jump to the category “clasiquero” or winner of classics. There was only one mare, the five-year-old Daringutokissme, against three four year olds and several of five and six years of age.
The odds showed the favorite as Stay And Play NR, who closed with odds of 1.60 to win. It was a wise choice for the bettors, because although
he did not have the most opportune start, he received enough encouragement from his rider Yair Daniel Báez Soto to dominate the race on the right side of the track, with Tyler Durden very close. When it looked like Torts Cartel (#1) would stay in front at the opposite end of the track near the inside rail, the aforementioned pair went full throttle to make it 1-2, with Stay And Play NR up front by half a neck difference.
The clock stopped in :17.21, which was good for a 91 speed index. Owned by
Cuadra Los Gavilanes, this victory highlighted trainer Rubén Romo Hernández who obtained his second triumph of five that afternoon, also including the AMCCCCM Classic.
Stay And Play NR is
a son of leading sire First
Down Dash and out of the mare Fervent, by Separatist. He was bred in the United States by William P. Nolan. He debuted in Mexico on February 28, 2021, and this was his 11th outing at the track from which he has obtained three firsts and two second places, with this victory adding to his account $153,950 pesos ($7,538 U.S. approx.).
Tyler Durden (Volcom-Little Affection) placed second under Aaron Adrian Gomez. He is the property of the Cuadra JJ and was saddled by trainer Fernando Figueroa Romero.
Third place went to Torts Cartel (Corona Cartel-Queen Of Torts), the winner’s
stable mate, as Cuadra Los Gavilanes is the owner. He had Martín Utrera Morales at
the controls. His trainer is Rubén Romo Hernández.
Daringutokissme
(Kiss My Hocks-Daring Difference), Bayou A Cartel (Corona Cartel-Louisana Corona), Tenaya Kid (First Down Dash-Lady Tenaya) and Nashville Cartel
(Corona Cartel-Shazoomin Rose) completed the order of finish.
