The inaugural Ruidoso Select Foal-In-Utero sale was held during the second session of the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale on Aug. 19 at Ruidoso Downs.
Preliminary results from the sale showed that 22 of the 27 foals-in-utero offered grossed nearly $800,000.
“This was a very successful sale,” stated Lowell Neumayer of the Ruidoso Horse Sale Company. “There was a lot of mare power here. We plan to do this again in the future.”
The $70,000 high seller was consigned
by William E. Smith and purchased by
Johnny Trotter. The foal, which is expected in February of 2018, is by Champion sire/World Champion Apollitical Jess and is out of Grade 1 winner First Carolina. The foal will be a half- sibling to stakes winners Ms First Prize Rose, Coronado Cartel and Denver Pass.
The second-highest selling foal-in-utero
at $62,000, which is due March of 2018, was consigned by Rafter W Stables and purchased by Henry Southway. The foal is by World Champion sire/Champion Mr Jess Perry and is out of Grade 1 winner Hidden Dragon. The foal will be a half-sibling stakes winners Heza Wild Dragon and Zulu Dragon.
