TOO MUCH WHITE
by Michael Compton
Making just his third lifetime start, Too Much White proved too much for his 9 rivals in the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity at
Ajax Downs on Aug. 13, breaking his maiden and joining the ranks of stakes winners all at the same time.
With Ramiro Castillo riding for trainer Jason Pascoe, the sorrel gelding broke second from the outside gate and
slipped to the 7th position at
the first call. He came back
and inhaled the early leaders
in the lane, and won the 330-
yard dash by 1/2-length in a
driving finish.
Too Much White stopped the timer in :17.280, earning a career best 83 speed index and the win improved his record to 3-1(1)-0-1 and the $22,894 winner’s share increased his earnings to $24,104. Too

EAGLE DELUXE

Eagle Deluxe nabbed his second stakes vic- tory of his freshman season in the $52,600 NCQHRA Futurity at Canterbury Park on
Aug. 6. Breaking mid-pack from the 5-post wasn’t ideal for the sorrel colt, but part-owner Tom Maher wasn’t worried. Maher noticed the colt’s break in the thick of the field and knew he would finish with the leaders if they could keep Eagle Deluxe close.
“He broke fifth and at 100-150 yards he rebroke, stretched out, and pulled away,” Maher said.
Under Berkley Packer, the pair gained ground by the stretch, and the colt strength- ened to an impressive victory against the competitive field.
The pair crossed the wire 3/4-length in front and cov- ered the 350-yard fast track in :17.849, earning a career best 97 speed index.

Eagle Deluxe has proven himself thanks
