Esgar Ramirez rode Apollitical OK to his first stakes victory in the $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Handicap-G2 at Ruidoso Downs on
August 5.
Apollitical OK got the second call from
the inside post and was in front by 1/2-length at the first call. The gelding maintained that advantage to the wire.

and finished 1/2-length in front while earning an 89 speed index.
“I was really confident, and he closed well,” said Ramirez. “He’s been training really well the last few weeks. We’re heading for the All American Gold Cup next.”
Apollitical OK was bred in Oklahoma by James
and Marilyn Helzer. The bay gelding is
one of five winners and four stakes winners produced by 2-time winner Taka Puna. She has produced 100% money/ROM/ earners from seven starters, including stakes win-
ners Apollititaka, Mr Taka B, and Takiana Romanova B. Apollitical OK is her top earner.
Apollitical OK’s second dam is stakes win- ner Babe On The Beach.
Campaigned in New Mexico and Oklahoma, Apollitical OK has banked $238,254 that includes the $30,000 winner’s share of
the Mr Jet Moore purse. The gelding’s record is 22-4(1)- 3(1)-3(2) including a third in last year’s $1,068,631 Ruidoso Derby-G1.
Sam Crow (Valiant Hero-Bourbonstreetchick) finished second under Ricky Ramirez and was prepped
by Trey Wood for owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC.
Docs First Fire (Walk Thru Fire-Dutch Secret) finished third for owner Jaime Bujanda. Raul Herrera was up for trainer Jose Luis Marquez.
First Valiant Sign (Valiant Hero-First Painted Sign), TF Im That Guy (First Down Dash-TF Ms Special Perry), Phoebesdynasty (FDD Dynasty-My Special Phoebe), Memphis D Nasty (FDD Dynasty-Jess A Cartel) & Stevie B First Cash (First Down Dash-Spit Curl Diva) completed the field. Dutcher and Jessies First Down were scratched.
The Mr Jet Moore Handicap, named in honor of the sport’s 1972 World Champion, is the final local prep for the 440-yard $200,000 All American Gold Cup-G1 held during Labor Day weekend.
