Stallions and mares come and go as performers and as producers.
They were good performers and then they were good breeding horses that were very successful in their life. But, many of these horses will fade into the pedigree and do not become a factor in the ongoing evolu- tion of the breed.
On the other side, however, we have the stallions and mares that maintain a regular appearance in the pedigree that do impact the evolution of the breed. These individuals are special because they don’t fade away, becom- ing what we call the Hallmarks that stamp the breed with their genes.
Tiny Watch is proving to be one of those Hallmarks. He was a successful racehorse and sire that has come down through the years to be a pedigree influence not only on Quarter Horse racing, but also as a crossover influence on barrel racing.
Tiny Watch was bred by Frank Vessels Sr., founder of the Vessels Stallion Farm. Tiny Watch raced in the colors of Vessels Stallion Farm and was later purchased by R.A. Ren- wick and R.L. Howard of Plymouth, Indiana, in October of 1965.
