The Allred Bros. Influence
by Larry Thornton
The Allred Brothers—Harvey, Dale and Jerry—raising a toast after winning the 1985 Budweiser Derby.
If you have been around quarter horse racing for any length of time and you hear the name Allred Brothers you automatically think of
successful Quarter Horse racing. The Allred Brothers—Harvey, Dale and Jerry, now all deceased—parlayed their 50-plus years of race- horse breeding and racing into an induction
to the AQHA Hall of Fame because of their success in this endeavor.
The Allred Brothers have bred at least 52 stakes winners and horses that have won over $8,000,000. One of the first was Mark T Bars. This gelding is the winner of 64 of his 115 starts. He has won more races than any other American Quarter Horse. He raced for 11 years and won eight stakes races. He also set nine track records. Mark T Bars was sired by Saint Mark by Top Deck-TB and out of Sassy T Bar by Diamond 2 Bar by Three Bars.
Another Allred Brothers-bred runner is champion and All American Futurity winner AB What A Runner. The pedigree of this mare runs deep in Allred Brothers breeding. She was sired by Royal Quick Dash and out of the Allred Brothers mare Be So Merry by Streakin
