Six. Be So Merry was out of Merry For Cash, by Dash For Cash. Merry For Cash was out of Merry Mayor, by Midway Mayor. Her dam, Ill Be Merry, was the first in this line of mares to be bred by the Allred Brothers. Ill Be Merry was sired by an Allred Brothers foundation stallion named Barjo, by Three Bars. Barjo was out of Betty Jo, by Red Joe of Arizona, by Joe Reed P-3. A recent stakes winner from this same line is Kobe, the winner of the 2012 Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1. Kobe’s fifth dam, Cash To Spare, is out of Be So Merry.
So outstanding racehorses are nothing new to the Allred Brothers. But with the 2012 All American Futurity-G1 winner One Dashing Eagle, they may have outdone themselves.
One Dashing Eagle was bought by Jose and Gustavo de La Torre and Jorge Carmona, of San Gregorio Stables, at the 2011 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $41,000. He started his race career with a second in a maiden race, came back and won a trial to the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1, and then added the Ed Burke Million to his list of wins. He followed that with a win in the 26th and final trial to the All American, and a win in the finals.
SIRE LINE
One Dashing Eagle is sired by 2008 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt One Famous Eagle. This good racing son of Mr Jess Perry won the Los Alami-
tos Two Million Futurity-G1 at 2 and the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1 and the Golden State Derby-G1 at 3. He finished his career with seven wins in 11 lifetime starts earning $1,387,453.
Mr Jess Perry is a champion in his own right as the 1994 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt. He won the Texas Classic Futurity-G1, the
Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Futurity-RG1, the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes-RG2 and the Louisiana Breeders Laddie Futurity-RG3 at 2 and came back at 2 to win the Texas Classic Derby-G1.
Mr Jess Perry was retired to stud and is now the all-time leading living sire of money earn- ers. He counts among his foals the Champions Noconi, Fredricksburg, Jess Louisiana Blue, Apollitical Jess and Miss Racy Jess.
Mr Jess Perry is sired by Streakin La Jolla, by Streakin Six. Streakin La Jolla won all eight of his starts including the Sound of Summer Derby and his trials for both the Firecracker Futurity and Derby. He was unable to go in the finals
of these two races because of a slab fracture at
2 and then problems with a screw coming out of his knee early in his 3-year-old year. He later won the All American Derby Consolation. Streakin La Jolla was bred by B.F. Phillips Jr. and Delbert Smith. The son of Streakin Six is the sire of earners of more than $22 million, with 77 stakes winners and champions like Mr Jess Perry and Streakin La Tacha.
The sire line of One Famous Eagle through Mr Jess Perry and Streakin La Jolla is a strong one. Streakin Six won the Rainbow Futurity-G1 and ran second in the All American Futurity-G1. He was a successful sire with 77 stakes winners of his own and earners of over $17,349,990. His sire is the ill-fated Easy Six who sired only a handful of foals including the good sires Six Fortunes
