SF MEXICANA BRAVE si 102, $133,772
Mexican Champion
Breeder/Owner: Hector Arreola Roldan
Trainers: Hector Arreola Roldan & Everardo Flores
Jockey: Arturo Romero
2011 Record: 6-3(2)-2(1)-1(0), $133,772,
1st Garanones Futurity-RG3, Premio SF Double Assault, 2nd Mexico Futurity
With four of the 10 nominees hail- ing from the breeding program of Hector Arreola Roldan, the odds were good that the 2011 Mexican Champion would carry Roldan’s name. And, in fact,
it did, as Roldan bred and owns Mexican Champion SF Mexicana Brave.
SF Mexicana Brave started six times in 2011, finishing in the top three in all six of those starts including three stakes races. The then two-year-old filly started her career on April 9, winning the Premio SF Double Assault stakes at 350 yards.
On April 29, she returned to win a trial to the Futurity Mexico, finishing second by just a nose in the finals three weeks later.
SF Mexicana Brave also finished second in a trial to the Futurity Garanones-RG3, then came back to win that graded stakes race by one length on July 17. Her final start of the year was a third-place finish in a futurity trial.
SF Mexicana Brave was trained by her owner and Everardo Flores and ridden by Arturo Romero.
SF Mexicana Brave is sired by SF Brave Heart, a winning son of First Down Dash out of Champion Two-Year-Old Filly and Mexican Champion Shake The Bank.
SF Mexicana Brave’s dam is SF Chicks Mexicana, a stakes winner of $56,127 in Mexico. SF Chicks Mexicana is out of SF Dash Mexicana, a stakes-placed winner with a speed index of 112. She, in turn, is out of Border Splash, a graded stakes finalist and winning half-sister to Mexican Champion Three-Year- Old Filly Truckle Toy and U.S. stakes winner and Grade 1 finalist Reign Splash, dam of graded stakes winners BCR The Reign Man and Reign Of Terror and stakes-placed win- ner Johnny Splash. This is also the maternal family of stakes winner WR Red Ace si 105 ($313,416) and stakes-placed horses WR Cassia si 103, Maxfield si 108 ($82,912), and others. Roldan’s other championship nominees were SF Gotta Assault You, SF Mexican Heart, a full brother to SF Mexicana Brave, and SF Simple Quick Dash. The four horses have combined earnings of $277,797.
