FANTASTIC FOR ME $41,460
South American Champion
Breeder: Gianni Franco Samaja Owner: Sergio Romero Lucena Nunes Trainer: F.P. Melo
Jockey: A.R. Lima
2011 Record: 2-2(1)-0(0)-0(0),
$41,460, 1st AQHA South America Championship Challenge
Fantastic For Me will go down in history as the first ever AQHA Champion South American Horse. It was a deserving title
for the now six-year-old stallion, who won both of his starts at The Jockey Club at Sorocaba
in Brazil and was the AQHA International Hi-Point Aged Stallion.
Racing for owner Sergio Romero Lucena Nunes, Fantastic For Me won a trial to the AQHA Bank Of America South America Championship Challenge by 1 1/4 lengths on Jan. 15. He returned on Jan. 29 to score a three-quarters of a length victory in the $86,496 finals, earning $41,460. F.P. Melo trains Fantastic For Me, who was ridden by A.R. Lima.
Brazilian Marcos Zaborowsky accepted Fantastic For Me’s award at the AQHA Champions presentation at Heritage Place on Jan. 18.
“This is very good for us...very good for Brazil. The races over there are getting better and better,” Zabarowsky said. “The Challenge races for us are very good. We don’t have good races for older horses. I want very much to thank AQHA for this—what you have made for us is very nice.”
Zabarowsky indicated racing in Brazil is improving year after year. This year’s races will feature a race worth $500,000, while the Bank of American South America Championship Challenge will have a purse of nearly $100,000.
Bred by Gianni Franco Samaja, Fantastic For Me is sired by Corona For Me and is out of the Chicks Beduino mare Jusjumpin. Corona For Me has been the No. 1 Leading Sire in Brazil for the past three years, and is now a championship sire as well. Corona For Me’s dam, JD Me Too, is a sister to Champion See Me Do It.
Jusjumpin made three starts on the race- track before beginning her broodmare career. She is a half-sister to stakes winners Carters Cartel, Tac It Like A Man, Flash First, and Imjumpn. Both Carters Cartel and Tac It Like A Man are off to good starts as stallions, while Imjumpn is a stakes-producing dam of horses like Headturner and Jumpn Beduino. Fantastic For Me’s second dam is Champion Jumping Tac Flash.
