          by Larry Thornton
The Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Triple Crown Races have developed into a showcase that has become a great venue for the American Paint Horse and Appaloosa runners. Each year, these two
breeds come together to battle it out not only for the prize money, but also for the
ultimate title of the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown Champion, a title that is earned by winning all three triple crown races. Horses earn points for the Speedhorse Triple Crown High Point Champion races, with the horse that earns the highest number of points after competing in all three races being named the winner. The 2019
Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown series was hotly contested
between DTL Chasin Tale and Southern Electric, making for an
exciting sequence of races and an interesting outcome for this year’s Championship honors.
DTL Chasin Tale won the first race in the June 1 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa
Futurity-G1 at Remington Park. Southern Electric finished third. The Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 at Fair Meadows Tulsa is the second race in the series and was run on July 27. This time, Southern Electric finished first and DTL Chasin Tale finished second. The Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Championship Futurity-G1 on Nov. 9 was run at Will Rogers Downs.
This race was the determining race for the high-point championship. Southern Electric finished first, with DTL Chasin Tale finishing second. When the dust settled and the points tabulated, Southern Electric and DTL Chasin Tale were named Speedhorse Triple Crown High Point Co-Champions for 2019.
