You’ve been trying to get a race horse And been searching high and low? Well, before you go much farther There is something you should know. If you’ve studied books and records And you’ve figured every fact
Then I’ll bet the thing you overlooked Is what most horses lack.
Take a look at every race horse, Study hard their pedigree.
You will note the sire is well-known For superiority.
Then the next step is quite simple Though it’s scarcely recognized Every race horse has a mother
And she’s usually minimized.
It’s the broodmare that’s important To complete the perfect horse. She’s responsible for half his speed And stamina, of course.
So be careful in selecting
Breed the best to best for best
And don’t ever think that half-a-horse Can outrun all the rest!
