Second in his Heritage Place Derby trial heat to Apollitical Pence and the third fastest qualifier, Viva Le Don won last year’s Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity.
Tom and Kathleen McNally’s homebred Charlies Fury (Furyofthewind-Jess Charlena) finished third for jockey Agustin Silva and trainer Michelle Hurdle. The gelding won the 2018 Black Gold 440 Futurity, a non-wagering event, and ran second in the Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity. Charlies Fury won his trial to the Heritage Place Derby in wire- to-wire fashion by 2-lengths for the fastest qualifying spot in the finals.
