Paragon Farms LLC’s Tough To Bee (Apollitical Jess-Peppermint Seis), a 15-1 longshot, ran third, a head behind Mi Amor Secreto, to complete a $1 trifecta return
of $554.70. The graded stakes winning Oklahoma-bred five-year-old gelding earned $28,380 to bring his bankroll to $682,817 from 25 races. Ricky Ramirez rode Tough To Bee for trainer Trey Wood.
Papaws Paint (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Heavenly Trip), LD Is Back (Walk Thru Fire-Prima LD), Rock About It (Rock Solid Jess-Not Sable Shes Rose), Admiral Sting (Apollitical Jess-Sting Scorpion Sting), Hes Limitless (Corona Cartel-PJ Chick In Black), Jessies First Down (FDD Dynasty-Jess A Classy Lassy), and Cartel Cupid (Corona Cartel-Lake View Dreams) completed the order of finish.
Quarter Horse racing’s World Champion in 2016 and 2017, Jessies First Down was sent to post as the 11-10 favorite in the Remington Park Invitational Championship, a race that he won last year. However, the eight-year-old gelding lost all chance to defend his title when he stumbled badly at the break.
One of the sport’s most prestigious races for aged runners, the Remington Park Invitational Championship was first contested in 2006, when Lindsey Mitchell’s SLM Snowman earned the winner’s share of a $150,510 purse. Past winners include Champion Country Chicks Man (2007) and World Champion Cold Cash 123 (2012).
