Gabriel Cué Sacre Classic

The second version of the classic in honor of breeder and horseman Gabriel Cué Sacre was held on April 28 on the main straight of the Hipódromo de las Américas with the participation of seven individuals three years or older, who have participated in claiming races of $80,000 pesos or less between March 31, 2018 and 2019. The trip was 350 yards and the purse for dis- tribution was of $312,000 pesos (approx. $16,332 U.S.).
It was a clean start in which the effort of the filly Hiclass Patriot stood out, with the runners invading the sandy track ready to give the battle. In mid-route, jockey Alejandro Gómez fell, the rider for RKM Cartel Six, who then completed the route at the rear of the group.
Hiclass Patriot firmly assumed command in such a way that she exhausted the dis- tance in :17.17, a time that credits her with a speed index of 91 and a third victory.
Under the leader- ship of Rosalío Alcudia, they crossed the wire 2 1/4-lengths in front.
This was the first classic triumph of the afternoon for Cuadra Los Gavilanes, since hours later they added to their record the Mexico Derby with LA Rapid Dove, reflecting the good train- ing that the athletes receive from Rubén Romo García and his team.
The five-year-old winner was bred in the United States by Jo Rice and is the daughter of stallion Jet Black Patriot and out of the mare Hiclass Quick, by Royal Quick Dash.
For this victory, Hiclass Patriot added $156,000 pesos (approx. $8,160 U.S.) to her account.
The first edition of this race was won by the colt Cruzamar (He Be Jess Special-Almeria), owned by Rancho La Soledad de Álvarez, in :17.30.
In second place came the filly Sassa Corona (Southern Corona-Sassafras) directed by Mario Alberto López
